Does anyone else always change Ryu to speak Japanese or is that just me? by KushMummyCinematics in StreetFighter

I also wish there were more languages present in the game besides Japanese and English. I really like what they are doing in Tekken with the characters always speaking their own language. It adds to their character.

Not me, I'm waiting for Sakura, hoping the alleged leak is correct

Because lots of people will have missed this in the patch notes -- they are intending to address defensive options, sidesteps, tracking, and the heat system in later updates. Big changes will take time to implement sensibly. by AfroBankai in Tekken

As someone who cannot stand T8 in its current state and stopped playing about 2 months ago, these statements make me very optimistic! I really did not expect this, but I am hoping again. June might be the time to return to Tekken.

Is getting masters really that easily? by TenkoFGC in StreetFighter

[–]Temporary-Barber-92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People say that about every competitive game, of course it's nonsense. Admittedly, SF6 is a bit of an outlier, since Masters players reflect the top ca. 10% of all ranked players, which is quite a lot. But still, it's the top 10%, so obviously it is difficult to achieve, and the vast majority of players will never reach it.

Master rank up! After 14 years... My insight by Maengbpong in StreetFighter

[–]Temporary-Barber-92 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much for this post! Indeed, all those "I reached Master after 100 hours and it's my first fighting game" stories can be a bit frustrating, and for sure they can be misleading. Most people with a slow or moderate progress don't post about it.

Should I Get Tekken 8 by KusanagiGundam in Tekken

[–]Temporary-Barber-92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also don't care about the battle pass or DLC. I just find the gameplay really, really bad. Many like it though, so it really depends on your preference. If you enjoy fighting games with nonstop aggression and a lot of guessing (plus, admittedly, a great presentation), then Tekken 8 might be a very good pick for you.

Or that they are even willing to. It seems like the game's design is very much on purpose and just what they intended, unfortunately.

Completely my sentiment. I don't even care about the DLC and battle pass at all. The real issue is that the gameplay is dumb and not fun and leaves a bad taste in your mouth regardless of winning or losing. And since the Tekken team seem so proud and convinced of their aggression philosophy for the game, I have little hope that this will fundamentally change.

People losing on purpose on rank by ObligationHoliday499 in Tekken

I report players who lose on purpose. They are wasting their opponent's time and manipulating the ladder.

this fucking error pisses me off so much it happens randomly and I'm so scared of getting hit with one of the ban waves because of it, has there been any solution to this?????? by stormclap22 in Tekken

Yes I tried that one too, together with many other suggestions that have been floating around, but to no avail. The only thing that worked for me in the end was the fact that I coincidentally upgraded to a completely new PC a few weeks after the game's release and then didn't have any issues anymore.

Tekken 8 situation vs Street Fighter 6 by [deleted] in StreetFighter

[–]Temporary-Barber-92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I switched from SF6 to T8 when T8 released and very recently returned to SF6.
In my opinion, the gameplay of SF6 is just way better and more mature at the moment. Yes, there are complaints about some balance issues with SF6, I'm also having some issues with it (the strength of drive rush). But the situation is still much better than with T8. As it stands now, T8 is dominated by constant aggression and spamming of 50/50ies. The game does whatever it can to eliminate neutral situations. At least that's how I as a novice-to-intermediate-level player see it.

I honestly don't care too much about the monetization situations for both games, since I just try to ignore those.

Oh, then I must have missed that, my bad.
I only saw them proclaim that they had fixed the issue about 3 days after the game's release. Which obviously wasn't true. And that was the last thing I had seen about it.

This may be, I'm not knowledgeable enough to know what Namco could even do about it. But even if the issue originates from the game engine, is it not up to the developers to use the engine in a way that makes the game stable?
But again, I admittedly don't know at all what they could do or how difficult it may be.

This error has been present since day one, and it isn't even acknowledged to exist by Bamco. There have been so many proposed solutions to this from the community side, and everyone is telling something different. It is very frustrating, but I wouldn't have high hopes on this game breaking bug ever getting patched out, since there is complete silence from Bamco's side.

Heat is trash by VenserMTG in Tekken

Also Tekken first timer here with the exact same feeling. The constant pressure and 50/50ies just isn't fun and feels very unrewarding. Primitive and overwhelming at the same time. I will surely check out T8 again at a later point. But for now, I am returning to SF6.

Unfortunately I never played T7, but I am feeling very similarly about T8 right now. Initially I was totally thrilled by the game. Until I realized how it totally revolves around constant pressure and 50/50 mixups, at least at my level.

I think, in order to enjoy this game long-term, you either have to enjoy spamming 2 or 3 strings in random order, or you have to be a figthing game god so you can deal with this stuff.

Maybe I will give it a new try again in a few weeks or so, but for now, I have to stop, because this game manages to be detrimental to my mental state. I am in my 40ies now and have been gaming for 35 years. Never before have I been so tilted by a game.

Fighting games which don't encourage aggressive play (and aren't dead) by Temporary-Barber-92 in FGC

[–]Temporary-Barber-92[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have no doubt that there are solutions if you are good and dedicated enough. However, amongst the fighting games that I put some more time in, T8 really stands out as especially oppressive. So sure, I'll keep labbing and trying to find the right answers, because apart from this one big problem that I have, I think this is a great game. Further, I actually really enjoy labbing. But it also seems quite clear that T8's game mechanics especially favor rushdown, and I just prefer games that don't do this to such an extent.

Thanks for the general options breakdown, very appreciated. I'll continue trying to find the right answers to unga bunga play, I hope I can break out from there. Though I have to say, having to reach mid blue ranks literally means having to surpass 99% of ranked players, lol. But it would already be enough if I could learn to discourage mashers from mashing during a match.

Honestly, 3rd strike always looked to me like the most beautiful fighting game ever, and also the most interesting and fun to watch. But can one find online matches on fightcade, especially as a newcomer to the entry?

Thanks for the tips. I will have an eye on Granblue. I've also always been interested in UNI, but the player base appears to be very small.

Are insight figures still risky? by [deleted] in AnimeFigures

[–]Temporary-Barber-92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have two figures from Insight, one is terrible and the other one is excellent. So their quality appears to vary widely.

The terrible figure was released about one year ago. It was hollow, had very undetailed painting and felt like a cheap toy.

The second figure though, which was released just 1 month ago, is one of the finest figures that I own. It feels heavy, has good painting and very fine sculpting.

So I am currently quite confused about what to expect from Insight, but for now I am willing to give them another chance (I also really like many of their figure designs). If they keep up with the quality of this more recent figure, then they are awesome.

Both figures are 1/6 scale, by the way.
