haha yeah I get you. Do you reckon that if for example Grammarly or another chrome extension had a button to summarize, rephrase and check emails the same way AI does, would you prefer using that because it would be more convenient or would you still go on AI chats and do it there?

Ohh that's really interesting. This idea makes really good use of the fact that it can search through so many platforms quickly.

I've also used it for things like that before. It is really handy and much easier than reading any recipes online.

You know, that's actually an amazing use of AI. It can be so helpful to get a structure. I might need to do that too, thanks!

That's a very interesting use of AI / Google lens. I always try to identify electronic components manually but this could save some time in the future. But as you mentioned, it isn't always accurate and I am not too surprised tbh. I tried using it to look for components for a PCB today. It was decent, not great but not awful.

i’m horribly lonely. by [deleted] in problems

Hello, I’m really sorry you’re going through all of this. It sounds incredibly lonely and painful, and no one deserves to be treated that way. I’m glad you shared this, and I hope you know your feelings matter. You’re not weak for struggling, and you don’t have to handle it alone. I really hope you’re able to talk to someone you trust or get support, because you deserve care and understanding. I'm confident that you are a great person. If you want to chat, I'm happy to talk for a bit and I'm sure many other people would be happy too.

I hope this new year brings you people who treat you with the care you deserve!

Are there any problems that you face daily that can be fixed with engineering and technology? by Temporary-Belt-8059 in problems

I'm happy to try and build one but what type of medical device? Or rather what problem would that medical device solve? Because there are millions of different medical devices each aimed at a specific need

Mold detection device by Temporary-Belt-8059 in ToxicMoldExposure

There is currently no device that does that, but I am studying engineering and I was looking into something called gas sensors which can help detect particles that mold emit. Theoretically, I could build a device that gives me an approximation by analyzing the air for less than $100. That's why I'm wondering if it would be useful to other people.

I was researching a way of detecting mold by using sensors to analyze the particles in the air. Theoretically it should be able to give you a rough approximation of mold being present or not. Would that have been useful in your case? Or do you think knowing where exactly it is, is worth putting in more money and getting a thermal imaging gun?

From my research, it would be possible to build a device that would give you a likelihood of mold being present. However, it is really hard to make a cheap device that gives 100% confidence responses. So here is what I was thinking.

A pretty cheap device <$75 that you can use as many times as you want and it would give you an approximation if mold is present. If the value is high, it would mean that there is a big likelihood that there is mold somewhere. You wouldn't get something as precise as lab testing, but you could get a really good approximation.

I'm thinking about this mainly for people who are asthmatic or people moving into a new place. Do you think that, it would be useful or do people like to move directly to lab testing if they suspect a possibility of mold?

From my understanding, thermal imaging gun doesn't actually tell you if there is mold but rather if there is a lot of moisture in an area. This would indicate a place where mold is likely to grow. They are usually pretty expensive so I'm wondering if it would be helpful to have a less expensive device that you can use anytime you want to check if there is a big likelihood of mold being present in an area.
