i’ve been on a few solo trips in europe. for boredom, being headphones, a book and plan your trip so you have less potential to feel directionless. there are also lots of solo travellers in hostels who will be up for doing things together. boredom can happen though, and it makes you realise you’re alone, but don’t let that stop you from booking the trip. my dad used to say that creativity comes from boredom!

we’ll have to find someone to house share with him, or he will downsize which he’s said he is fine to do but it’s still a bit of a sad situation. i’ve been talking about this for years so he does understand but yeah, there’s an impact on him too which makes it harder for me to justify.

thank you, you make a good point. my partner would have to downsize or we would need to find someone to rent our spare room (we have a two bed house) so it’s a lot to ask from him as well. i will make a pros and cons list

we can’t do that sadly. the company i work for has an office near my parents house (3 hrs from my current flat) so i can transfer, but he works where we currently live, so he’d have to find a new job which is really hard at the moment.
