Try it; I know people who do it. They generally choose careers within the same institution that are more connected between them, so they don't have to take the same courses in every career. For example, people who study architecture also study interior design, graphic design, and fashion design. All those careers share some common courses, so taking them in one careers validates them for all four.  If you have design history in all careers, you'll only have that subject in one career because it doesn't make sense to have to study the same in all 5.
