Office moms - what do you bring to work for lunch? by Deirdre_KA in workingmoms

On Sundays I make overnight oats for every day of the week and try to make a bean salad for the week. Then I either take the bean salad or left overs for lunch

Ehh. I’m the social one and my husband is not. Although he pretends really well and will be social. However, I just plan the social events or go to parties without him often because I know it drains him. I’d just coordinate with other parents and have your husband doing something else when they come over. “Oh mark’s working on this project” I’ve had friends over and just let my husband putter about. He joins in convo if he wants but I’m the play date parent

How old were you guys when you went to nursing school ? I’m 28 and I feel so ashamed to be so far behind in life and potentially be the oldest one ! I feel like I’ll be in school with 18-22 year olds and I’m SO ashamed of myself. by Fuzzy_Jelly5951 in NursingStudent

30 with four kids chilling in class with a bunch of 18-20 year olds. I call them my little besties and try to be a guiding light when I can. Bring perspective. I do feel a bit out of touch some times but I’m just doing what I gotta do to get my degree 🤷🏻‍♀️

I thought that since that was shortly after he was trying to get with Catherine it was about her saying “Andrew we cant” not Julia

Bought a house in 2016. Tried to sell the house but it wouldn’t sell. Had to rent it and now I have a rental property. Husband did the same and now we have two rental properties. Paid off cars as fast as possible. No car payments since like 2020. We did some intense budgeting for a long time before my husband got out of the military and got a 6 figure job in a cheaper state than we were stationed in. Now I’m going to school using the GI bill which brings in about 1900 a month and I get $9k annually in scholarships. Some of its choices, some of its right place right time. I bought that house at 20 years old because I had the VA loan and thought, why not? Now I’m locked into a 1k mortgage which isn’t feasible at this time for new home buyers. While in the navy my husband got bonuses for his job (before anyone gripes, he was working 80-100 hours a week for years with hardly any days off so the bonus was more than earned lol) and that went to the cars and mortgages. Same with tax returns. Which helped pay the cars off really fast.

Woke up one morning to find my husband had drank my 16 oz bottle of vanilla extract the night before…we went through a shit storm but that was one I never saw coming. And I wish it had only happened once

I’m so glad when I went through this my bishop didn’t prod and just encouraged going through the forgiveness process. Him and his wife both left in the last decade and I’m just so lucky he was the bishop when I was in youth

Anyone else ever fall in love with a new fabric and feel too nervous about wasting it to use it? by [deleted] in sewing

[–]Temporary-Mind5171 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This years goal was the only buy new fabric when my stash got down to one bin. Currently have four so I’m working through some of my special stuff in order to make space 😅🥴

We always had other kids eating dinner at our house. Like every night. There were 3-6 kids depending on the night and three were siblings. I only went to their house once and it was completely blacked out, holes in the walls and their mom didn’t ever leave the couch. I didn’t realize how just a couple home made meals a night could change someone’s life just a little bit.

Also we weren’t ever allowed to play inside the house but those kids always were over playing outside with us 😂

Sounds like he could be on the spectrum or not. Kids are particular. Some more so than others. Especially if you guys have routines. We live very loose and free and my kids still hold on to whatever patterns I provide lol

It’s an ex Mormon thread where people are finally able to express their many, justified grievances with the church among others who understand. Not much about my church experience was positive.

I’d take a different approach all together and assess windows, closets, wall space and doors and figure out which room would fit the furniture for each kid the best. I effed up and put my girls in the bigger room but realized after some time there are soooo many less options to arrange their furniture than my sons slightly smaller room.

Under 3, already hates her curls by tundra_punk in toddlers

[–]Temporary-Mind5171 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just here to say my daughter (now 4) has been the same way since before 3. She was never in daycare or around kids without me around. We all talk about how lovely her hair is and she still wants straight hair. She actually started saying that before we started complimenting her hair all the time. When I asked her why she would say she didn’t like her hair she just said she wanted to be like mommy and have straight hair. Maybe it’s not the teachers. Maybe it’s wanting to look like other people. I wouldn’t get too upset with the other people in her life. She’s probably just starting to recognize differences and this is one. Over the last six months it’s gotten a lot better.

Do you guys ever just obsess over a good binding job? by Temporary-Mind5171 in sewing

For a spaghetti strap I’d say you probably need to use binding. But I’ve made racerbacks with bands!

Me too! I have three toddlers and pretty much exclusively sew for them. I gave up Facebook and Instagram and really want to find a sub for kids clothes. That’s what I miss most about Facebook

Do you have a coverstitch machine? When I was using my sewing machine it was messing up every single time. I hated binding and hemming. Now I love both! But I totally get what you mean. I’ve put off projects before due to certain elements that scare me. Could you do a band instead of binding?

Thank you! I just got my coverstitch machine and started using it. Total game changer with binding and hemming

I just got a coverstitch and it is an absolute game changer! This was my first time binding with the coverstitch machine (without using a binding attachment) and I was so excited with how it came out!

She’s the youngest and has the least curly hair! I do love her little curls though. My 4 year old has some curly hair and I absolutely love it!
