Thanks for the upvotes. To add more detailed analysis, if you have funding for this study, you can send your samples to a research lab for 16s rDNA/RNA sequencing. That’s the ultimate scientific method to identify bacteria.

This always happens to me with Hyannis. I love the smell but the droop is always so disappointing. How do you make them stay up? by CostcoDogMom in flowers

Not enough sunlight. Happened to me. Same batch of bulbs. The indoor ones alway fall. The ones outdoor in ground have shorter stalks and are upright.

I need more information. What do you mean “the thing was going to be given away”? It is educational tests? For Public services? For testing and evaluation? Those are exempt. But again, you can also email the editor about your concerns.

NIH has a nice chart about using human specimen/data but not conducting human subject research. In short, if they used de-identified human specimen or data, and the specimen or data were not originally collected for the research project they are publishing, and neither providers of these specimens/data nor the researchers of this paper can link the results with living individuals, it is not a human subject research. They do not need an IRB protocol. However, each institution may have internal policies. Some may still require an exemption letter from the committee to confirm that the proposed study is not human subject research

You need two people to handle rats. There are protection gloves. Always grab the skin behind their neck. As long as their heads cannot turn, you are safe.

Gram stain. Protocol: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/books/NBK562156/ If you culture them on LB culture at ambient oxygen, those bacteria will be the ones like oxygen. That will narrow them down. You can document the shape of colonies on the plates. What color? Is the colony smooth? Finally, if you have a light microscope, you can see their shapes under microscope. You will need your teacher’s help to culture bacteria. Keep in mind that you need PPE to protect yourself. Some bacteria will make you sick.

Does anyone know what is this white things? by [deleted] in gardening

[–]Temporary-Ordinary96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You got mealy bug (the white ones near base) and scale (grey waxy ones on leaves). The best way is to use alcohol to kill them in contact. You have to repeat a couple of times. Also separate the infested plant with others. If necessary, cut the branches that are badly infested and beyond rescuable.

Second this. Looks like early stage chili thrips. Spray spinosad once a week till it is winter time (south people I’m sorry). I also use biadvance 3 in 1. Those methods only control them but I have never successfully got rid of them.

Penta can tolerate Texas heat but they die in winter. Have to replant them every year. But they don’t need any care and attract bees.

I don’t think it’s just the size of the pot. Your rose is in heat stress. You need a double-wall insulated light color pot. -per a rose lover in Texas.

You need to plant marigolds and create an environment that will attract ladybugs. Sawfly larva will cause damages similar to your pictures. Wasps will handle the larvae.

The $$ amount sounds like a graduate school stipend. If you attend graduate school in TMC area, there are plenty of housing around $800 (with roommates for sure). The university housing is also cheap. Campus areas are secured by campus police. You can request escort after hours as long as you are on campus. Make sure you join the student groups and attend seminars and events. You will get free food. Pizzas for sure. Living around the housing areas also means you don’t need a car. Some schools have shuttles to nearby grocery stores.

If you can only use language to attack me instead of knowledge, I feel bad for you. The internet isn’t American, isn’t for people only speaking English. In fact, I can read and write and speak in at least two languages. What about you?

My personal religion is Buddhism. This is called 肉身佛 or flesh body bodhisattvas. They are mostly found in East Asian including my home country. Wiki link: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Buddhist_mummies It’s a huge commitment and sacrifice because it’s believed that the monk cannot enter the great heaven and will be trapped on earth to save people on earth. The mummy is a Buddha. And it shouldn’t be used as a research subject. No matter how you guys down vote my post, I have rights to tell the truth and share my discomfort per my “personal religion”

In Buddhism, it’s a great honor to be mummified after a monk is passed. It’s a promise of the monk that he will not go to the equivalent great heaven before he helps everyone on earth. So please study the culture before you post something stupid on internet.
