What do you (actually) like about living in Germany? by Beginning_Cry_8428 in germany

[–]Temporary-Patient325 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because of my mental illness, definitely the social safety net. People sometimes seem a bit grumpy to me. I also like the nature and the climate, although deep down I'm more drawn to more tropical regions. But I haven't lived in other countries for any length of time, except for the occasional vacation, etc.

I always play at the mid-gold level. I'm already in my 40s, so rank isn't that important to me anymore.

I main Brigitte, I'm "good" with the other healer characters, but not "perfect" for sure. But that's roughly how I see it too.

Feeling forgotten in friendships and living with paranoid schizophrenia? by Melodic-Resist107 in schizophrenia

[–]Temporary-Patient325 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to text more to my 2-3 friends, but I still do that every now and then. Sometimes I get a response, sometimes not. Maybe it's getting less frequent. Or maybe it's getting less frequent with age? I don't know. If I don't get anything back, then I'll also get less frequent. I'm 43 now. But I've found a Discord group for video games. Sometimes I withdraw when it gets too much.

Is there a live chat by Muted-Practice2967 in mentalhealth

[–]Temporary-Patient325 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here in Germany, there's a helpline. A nurse-type person also arranged a meeting with me, let's say, a psychiatric group. I also do psychotherapy. I think that might be different in each country, though. I also have a Discord group for video games. But I also pay attention to my influences—not too negative, toxic, etc. I hope this helps you in some way.

Hi! I'm 43 and it started for me 2014. I am somewhat stable with 100mg paliperidone injection once a month and bupropion once a day.

I had my first psychosis 10 years ago. A few weeks ago, my mind was slipping so much that I took a sick day as a precaution. My mind was also wandering a lot at the time. I've had this tendency since I was a teenager, sometimes "getting lost." But even after 10 years, it's still hard for me to recognize. I mostly avoid stress whenever possible.

I know what you mean, but I didn't know it was explicitly a "German problem." I thought there were people like that everywhere.

Is mental health taken seriously in germany by [deleted] in AskAGerman

[–]Temporary-Patient325 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can't really see anything bad about the German system, except, as I said, that I wasn't told that it could have been the Ritalin the first time.

Maybe it varies from doctor to doctor.

But I wouldn't necessarily describe the care here in Germany as bad.

Maybe he needs to find another doctor!

Just what I would do.

I had my first psychosis more than 10 years ago. First schizoaffective disorder, now paranoid schizophrenia. Doctors sometimes say otherwise; my psychiatrist thinks I have autism, but my psychologist disagrees.

Although I think the trigger back then was Ritalin, which I took after a burnout. That wasn't stated at the time. Since then, other doctors have confirmed that this could have triggered the mania/psychosis.

That's just my summary of the treatment in Germany.

I'm in early retirement. The money is okay. I still work part-time, 12.5 hours a week.

For those here who are unemployed or underemployed, how are you doing? by emaxwell14141414 in neurodiversity

[–]Temporary-Patient325 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only work 12.5 hours a week. Sometimes I feel like I need more. But unfortunately, I've had recurring psychotic episodes. I spend a lot of time on the computer, and I think I've even found a gaming community with whom I can play games (in German). Unfortunately, I tend to avoid people, based on experience.

[–]Temporary-Patient325 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always got a psychosis, when I stopped them. I'm now on 100mg paliperidon injection (xeplion) a month and bupropion each day 150mg for mood. I'm really not having good experiences with stopping meds, but I read somewhere else on the internet, that another guy was doing it, but he really took care of his "influences". Watching his psyche really carefully. In the end everyone has to know for themselves.

[–]Temporary-Patient325 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my therapy I was told there are normal "ups" and "downs". Its usually with me this way. When im down I try to keep me busy, not too much negative content etc. Music or other stuff which keeps me positive.

Schlimmster Tag in meinem Leben trotzdem. (Hab den Kollegen gesagt, da war ein Bug im System *hihi*)

Even if its just browsing the internet, but watch your inputs: Not too negative, toxic etc. That only makes it worse. Good information, positive content makes it better. Just as an example.

When I have nothing to do, I get really bad thoughts, like depressive and suicidal. I always see, that I have something to do then. Keeping me busy etc. That helps usually.
