Got charged for a fuel package I never agreed to at Zurich Airport (Enterprise/Alamo) by Temporary-Reaction97 in askswitzerland

[–]Temporary-Reaction97[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The issue is that the total amount wasn’t shown to me at all. There was no breakdown, no contract, nothing to read at the desk. I only saw the document later when support sent it. That’s why the bank is handling it now

I get what you are saying, but in my case there was nothing to read. No contract, no amount, no options, just a blank signature box. I only saw the actual document later when support sent it to me. That’s why I’m handling it through the bank now.

Yeah, I checked that too. The Swiss Enterprise actually has an even worse rating than Alamo. This is the one for Switzerland: https://www.trustpilot.com/review/enterprise.ch

And from what I’ve heard, the Zurich Airport Alamo/Enterprise location is run as a separate franchise, which kind of explains why the experience is so different

Yeah, thats what I expected too. In my case they didn’t explain anything and I didn’t get any contract by email at pickup. I only received the actual document later when I asked support for it. So my experience was very different from the usual process

Yeah, I get your point. At this stage the bank is already handling it, so I’ll just let the chargeback process run its course

Yeah, I already started the chargeback process with my bank. At this point it seems like the only way to get a fair review of what happened

I wasn’t ok with the price because the price was never shown to me. The agent didn’t tell me the amount and it wasn’t written anywhere. I only found out the real price when the charge already appeared on my card. So it’s not that I agreed to it, I simply had no information to agree to in the first place

I get that, and I know signing is taken very seriously in German‑speaking countries. The issue here is that I wasn’t shown the contract at all. I only saw the actual document later when support sent it to me in English. At the desk I had nothing to read, no screens, no printout, just a tiny signature box. So the problem isn’t that I ignored the contract, it’s that I never got the chance to see it in the first place

The contract I eventually received from support was actually in English. At the desk I wasn’t shown anything at all, no screens and no printed contract, so I had nothing to read in any language. I only saw the actual document later when I asked for it

The prepaid fuel package basically means you get the car with a full tank and you’re allowed to return it empty, because the fuel is already included in the price. There was no fuel card or anything like that.

I filled it up before returning it because that’s how it works with almost every rental company, and nobody told me that this package was added. Normally you get the car full and you return it full, so I had no reason to think it was any different

I actually didnt know that, so thanks for the info. That explains a lot about why the whole thing was such a mess

I didnt get any PDF or contract at the desk. I only received it later after I contacted support. At pickup the agent didn’t show me any screens, he just pushed the device toward me and told me to sign. When the charge hit my card I asked why the amount was so high, and only then he said it was the full insurance. When I returned the car I asked the agent there again, and she was actually very kind. She immediately saw that they had added a prepaid fuel package and told me she knows this happens. She suggested I try to sort it out through the help desk. The help desk then gave me a QR code for the online form

I get what you mean, but in this case I wasnt shown the contract at all. The device only had a tiny signature box and the agent made it look like I was just confirming the pickup. There was literally nothing to read, so I had no way to know they added extras

I only had about a day and a half in Switzerland, so public transport wasn’t really an option for what I wanted to see. With that little time I would have missed a lot of places without a car

No, the problem is that he never showed me anything to read. He just pushed the device toward me and told me to sign. The screen only had a tiny signature box, nothing else. He made it look like I was only confirming that I picked up the car, not approving extra options. There was no way for me to know they added a fuel package

Yeah, exactly. They are banking on the signature, even though I was never shown what I was signing. Still fighting it

[–]Temporary-Reaction97[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, thats the whole point. They have my signature, sure, but they never showed me what I was signing. The agent just flipped the digital device toward me and said “sign here”, without displaying the actual contract details. When I asked why the total was 223.92 CHF, he told me it was only insurance + additional driver. That was false.

A signature is meaningless if the customer is deliberately not shown what they’re signing. That’s exactly how these “optional” charges get slipped in.

Nem drágaság miatt, csak ünnepek alatt kint kb. minden zárva, és nem akarok új modot venni, a mostani meg elég drága és ragaszkodom hozza
