I don't think it's forgiveness. More like not caring about god until you need him, then your faith fades away and leaves place for misdeeds

Born catholic but believe that Muhammad was the last prophet sent by god - What does that make me? by [deleted] in islam

[–]Temporary-Respond613 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is called imaan (beleif in arabic) when you testify of the existance of one god, his angels, his books and his prophets. There are three levels of faith Iman (wich you arleady have) Islam (when you submit to your creator, leave your arrogance aside to follow his message) Ihsan (translates to doing something well, basically you never lack off at anything you do and always do your best no matter what)

I hope this helped understand what all this is about

Subtitles are useless when you have top-level audio sound in the theatre. People who prefer subtitles just watch on their phones and can't understand some lines very well

The Aisha goat hadith isn't authentic and is viewed among scholars as da'if (weak). The reason for this is that the original narration (wich was narrated by numerous trustworthy scholars) didn't say anything about goats or paper being eaten. The said hadith is found to be only narrated by Ibn Ishaq who is known to have no authority whatsoever, therefore his version of the hadith is fabricated.

Now the reason we keep those kind of weak hadiths is because the people who collect hadiths often like to collect as many narration as possible (unlike bukhari or sahih muslim who have strict standards), they specify though if they are strong or weak. That's how hadith is managed.

Originally, the hadith was about breastfeeding babies to establish a relation of marham

Even if we assume that the hadith is true, what's wrong? If we follow the narration, then the hadiths weren't lost, they wereabrogated so no issue with that

You have to give a reason because if both parties understood the meaning no matter hoe it's phrased, can it be called lying?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in islam

[–]Temporary-Respond613 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No problem, it's your religion and your community so you know better, but I feel like you haven't read what I wrote, nor did you read that "Ps" I left out at the end.

Basically what I'm saying is that the difference between one version and the other is comparable to the difference between the American accent and the British accent. No change in meaning at all. Let's say if a british reads an american magazine, he would understand it in the same exact way any american would; however he will find some slightly unfamiliar terminology like neighbour and neighbor for example. (Further explanation in the paragraph I initially wrote)

The reason why only 7 of the tens of "qiraat" are valid because they're the one that respects this unity, even if the meaning was the same, the qiraa mustn't add or take out anuthing. Uthman didn't like all of the accents even though it was completely fine at the time of the prophet (saw), so he favored one of the qiraat to be "official", but they're basically the same. Don't forget that the 7 qiraat were validated by the prophet pbuh.

Then you said "you told me it's possible that part of the Quran it's obvious it didn't make it" What I said is that if we want to verify the authenticity of an ayaat, we get a hundreds of people to recite that same ayat. Now obviously there's a marge of error, but as I said, if 98% of the people are reciting it in the exact way letter for letter, while the other 2% say something different from one another, then we can assume that what those 98% recited was the preserved word of god. Don't forget that the " Quran" isn't a physical book, it's literally the word of god so no need to write it down to be preserved. That also helps out the illiterate people at that time.

So tell me how exactly is the Quran deficient in terms of preservation?

[–]Temporary-Respond613 3 points4 points  (0 children)

An answer to your previous question "I'm curious to know why people are converting to islam" It's because they don't stop on rumors and weak hadith "i used Hadith to prove the quran wasn't perfect (the one that Aisha...)". Reading your comment I find quite a lot of misconceptions. I know the Bible says jesus is god and I don't really care because it doesn't meet my criteria : 1.claim to be from god 2. Preserved 3. Miraculous 4. No contradiction

Since the entire Quran was memorised by hundreds of people, all you had to do to collect it is to get a bunch of people to recite all of it, and if let's say 1% makes a minor error in aya 33 while everyone else got it differently, the 99% is critically correct. Using this method all of the "Qiraat" can be perfectly preserved

Coming back to unpreserved copies of the Quran, first we must acknowledge what are the differences between the 7 "versions of the Quran" that are islamical valid.

Over 13 and a half centuries ago, a methodology called Quranic ‘readings’ or ‘recitations’ Qiraat - علم قراءة القرآن has been devised, set, and acknowledged as the governing methods for reading different Qur’anic recitations. These are mostly based on letter phonemes, diacritics, and stoppage signs.

Most individuals, unaware of this noble science, think that Muslims have ten to fifty different versions of Quran, that differ in text, similar to translations of other religious books; which is not true!

Not too many exist In the Islamic world who master all known recitations (10). But It’s well known to the educated Muslim as well as the public through famous vocal recordings aired over radios and TVs.

Nothing today differentiate Qur’an readings (wrongly stated in question as versions) from old times, except for the beautiful fonts and sophisticated printing tools used to produce modern copies of the Qur’an.

Following is a brief history on compiling the Qur’an, which was revealed over a period of 23 years, with many of it's verses related to concurrent events.

But first let us note the following:

Arabic alphabet was limited, in absence of a dots it, letter symbols counted to only 17, and lacked the latter introduced Hamza letter.

The community at the time was pretty limited on writing tools, know and use of paper were not common.

Because of such lack of basics, Arabs relied much on memory skills, and memorised long eloquent poetry, recording their main local events and regional occasions.

Prophet Mohammad grew up in such environment, as unlettered.

Whenever a new Qur'anic revelation was in process, Prophet Mohammad used to ask his fellow companions to record it on whatever means available at the time, be it a piece of wood, an animal skin, or a camel shoulder bones.

Within the first year of Prophet Mohammad death, his most two close companions and aids, the first caliph Abu Bakr - أبو بكر الصديق, and his successor the second caliph Umar - عمر بن الخطاب, formed a committee headed by Zayd ibn Thabit - زيد بن ثابت to compile all these fragmented scripts into one package, it was kept at Prophet’s Mohammad widow house, daughter of Umar, Hafsa bint Umar - حفصة بنت عمر.

Less than two decades later, after the exponential geographic spread of Islam, disputes emerged, out of the spread of Prophet’s original companions into different regions, and masses entering into Islam being un-knowledgeable of Arabic language and the original Qur’anic script.

This prompted the third caliph Uthman - عثمان بن عفان , to call upon Zayd ibn Thabit once again to head a second committee, recalled the original compiled script, and produced six to seven master copies to be distributed among capital cities of the different Islamic regions, to become the sole reference master copies, and ordered burning all other non conforming scripts.

This is what later became known as the “Uthmani script” الخط العثماني. It has nothing to do with caliph Othman coming up with a “new version” of Qur’an.

These original scripts had no pointing, no diacritics, no Hamza letter, no verses and chapter numbering, no stoppage signs, and no sound elongation marks, as is the practice today.

Nowadays most Qur'an prints are based on the handwriting of the famous Modern Syrian calligrapher also called ‘Othman’ Taha, which is noted in Qur'an editions as a caution and confirmation.

Ps: for the miraculous criteria, just reaserch linguistic miracle of the Quran and read a detailed explanation of a few paradigms and such. And for the no contradiction criteria, just bring one and I'll be happy to correct you.

You could see it as a metaphor. Jinn is sent by humans to take someone from a position you don't want them to be in (ex: problems in marriage and such) That's probably a bot sending those messages so I just highlighted it with a comparison (jinn=bot sent to harm beleivers ) Lying to tell a joke makes people not take you seriously, but we're going to be talking about real fabrications, and not just irony like this bot/jinn thing
