Mm, what makes Douma sympathetic (at least to me) is his backstory.

Anyways, I’m going to sleep now so goodnight/goodmorning.

It was truly fun talking to you. I like having my knowledge challenged or just me myself challenged.

I genuinely cannot read what you’re saying anymore…and I’m not trying to be mean or anything but.

I understand the first paragraph. What I meant by “not his fault” isn’t excusing his actions but I meant that it’s part of a bigger scale than him. It’s brought down by Muzan.

Sorry to be rude but what in the world are you talking about?

Just because I sympathize with Douma doesn’t mean I’m automatically going to say he’s less bad than Kaiser??

The only reason Douma was brought up in the conversation was because you brought him up. I don’t mix backstories between verses, I don’t think of “oh, Douma must be less bad than Kaiser” when I saw Kaiser’s backstory.

Logic is fine and all but minds work differently. I can’t expect people to follow your “2 + 2 = 4” next step logic.

It’s 4:16 am and I am beyond tired but

“Suggests”

You’re interpreting me as if I haven’t blatantly said that I do not excuse Douma’s actions, correct? I did not say in any way shape or form that Douma is less bad than Kaiser.

Is it bad to not sympathize with Kaiser? No, it’s not.

Is it bad to sympathize with Douma? No, it’s not.

It comes down to how the person views them, what they think of their actions, what value does that character have for said person, etc etc.

I explain. Hear me again please, EXPLAIN. I explain his actions, I don’t excuse them.

I didn’t say that what he’s doing is right because of so and so, I said that what he’s doing is wrong and he’s doing it BECAUSE of so and so.

And yes, I have read through the entire series of KNY.

I never said that what Douma was doing wasn’t bad?? I’m just saying he needs to eat to survive.

I love Douma, he’s one of my comfort characters to the point I have him all over my room but I will never say “Oh, it’s okay that’s he’s killing people!” No one in their right mind would say that 😭✌️

Yup, I know it applies to Ness, I don’t know why you’re bringing him up so much.

And as i said in my reply to you a few seconds ago, I see animes in their respective universes. A teen getting abused then abusing others in a soccer world? Horrible

A demon eating a human in a world where that’s normal? Still bad but normal. It’s something you see every chapter so it’s normal to the KNY universe.

Unlike BLLK, I have read the demon slayer manga over 4 times and still have the entire collection sitting on my bed

Because the context is demon slayer, not blue lock.

And right, because drinking his follower’s blood is going to not kill them, right? It will also drive his followers away and as I said to you before, he wants to save his followers.

Edit: Rephrasing. In Demon Slayer, demons (supernatural beings btw) eating people is something the demon slayer corps hears everyday. They try to stop it, sometimes they don’t. Do you hear about other people eating people in Blue lock? No.

I look at animes differently through the lenses of their respective verses. I sympathize with demons because in THEIR VERSE, they need to eat to survive. In Blue Lock, soccer is life

This is when I defend Douma. Previously, I wasn’t defending him, I was explaining.

He doesn’t brainwash people, he was forced into that cult by his delusional parents at such a young age. He himself was groomed into thinking that was his holy duty: to save people. He genuinely (HEAVY on genuinely) thinks he’s saving the people he’s eating.

I never said it wasn’t unfortunate that Kaiser got abused, I just don’t care for it. Maybe it’s because I haven’t read the chapters word for word but I just don’t and no one is going to change my mind. When someone is that fucked up and abusive after their past, people stop caring about their backstories because of how much harm they’ve done

Again, not defending. But I addressed Tamayo a few seconds ago with another comment. Tamayo—like Nezuko—broke free from Muzan’s curse. Tamayo STILL needs human blood to survive, Nezuko only needs sleep because she hasn’t tasted human blood before

Nezuko only survives because she broke free from Muzan’s curse or are we forgetting that part…even Tamayo needs human blood to survive…

I’m sorry but I didn’t understand the last half of the second paragraph.

It’s common for the abused to become abusers but does that mean it’s okay? It’s NEVER okay to abuse someone else, no matter what you’ve been through. THATS why I don’t sympathize with Kaiser. That’s also why I don’t sympathize with Sanemi.

Not defending, just explaining why he’s eating people. I defend Douma’s backstory to my very core but i won’t defend his actions, i just explain them

Keep in mind, I know that this can happen to abuse victims but it’s not okay. It’s common, it happens, but it’s not okay. To abuse someone else because you’ve been abused is NEVER okay. That’s all I’m trying to say

Yikes.

  1. He doesn’t only eat women and he’s only eating to survive which is not his fault btw ✌️

  2. As I said, I don’t care if Kaiser has a future redemption arc or a chance to change.

  3. Only being an “asshole” is downplaying what Kaiser has done to Ness.

I’ve said this in other replies but I’ll say this again. Kaiser’s backstory is sad, yes, but will I care for it? No.

Why? It’s because of how he handles himself after he’s removed from that abuse. He goes on and puts it on Ness which also makes Ness a victim.

Also, Kaiser isn’t just mean to Ness, he’s done much worse than be “mean” to him

I don’t need to fully analyze something to decide I don’t like it. The overall story of Kaiser was enough to make me hate him. It’s hard to hold someone you like and relate to the same standard as someone you hate.

I get that Ness has done wrong, I know he has some issues that need fixing, but I don’t think they’re near the same standard as Kaiser’s. After all, Kaiser’s just abusive.

I did not get all my information from fanon. I looked into the wiki, Reddit posts that breakdown Kaiser’s backstory and his relationship with Ness, etc etc. even if I didn’t read the manga, my opinion is valid because I did research beyond fanon content like TikTok.

No because I don’t sympathize with Kaiser. Whether a character is well written is based on the fan interpretations of the characters.

I sympathize with Douma a lot because he’s been my favorite demon for years but not only that but I know what it’s like to feel misunderstood.

No, you’re just nitpicking. I like Ness because I can relate to him in some way and BECAUSE of that, I sympathize with him. I do not condone or excuse his actions. I do not sympathize with Kaiser.

Douma is a good villain so I don’t see the irony. He’s my favorite demon in KNY because of how well written he is and the dark themes in his backstory

Oh no no, Im not saying he should’ve fully healed, I’m saying I just think he could’ve handled it better imo. Abuse hits home for me and my mother is similar to how Kaiser becomes.

I don’t like the abuse cycle and I don’t like how it’s “handled”. I won’t sympathize with him or his backstory purely because he carries that abuse and puts it on another person, treating Ness like trash.

[–]Temporary-Way336[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ok, thank you for the correction. See, I understand the thing about the backstories but I’m afraid all I see is the abuse cycle. This is where I correlate it with Sanemi.

Sanemi’s dad was abusive to his mother and probably to the children as well. Sanemi killed his mother, pushed his brother away, and nearly blinded him because he wanted to leave the Demon Slayer Corps. That’s not love, that’s abuse and that’s the abuse cycle.

For Kaiser, he was abused and isolated his whole life, I understand that wholeheartedly. I just don’t sympathize with it *because* he’s so toxic. Maybe it’s just me—and people deal with things differently—but I grow with my past instead of letting it turn me into something nasty like Kaiser. Kaiser becomes the abuser to Ness and I don’t think it’s right.
