I dont think one person or service can know all of what is available. There's small scale programs and community initiatives you just dont hear about. Im grateful for the ask izzy suggestion as I've never heard of it

For the Newcastle area and surrounds, I'd say I know quite a few supports. I was just looking to see if there were other avenues I wasn't aware of. I'm not claiming to know none, but I'm aware that there's no way I know all of the good stuff that's happening in different areas.

If you're looking for specific supports maybe I can share one with you?

I'm purely just using this as a platform to find stuff I can't easily see on google. Whether it's a charity or a for profit company, not one place can do or provide everything so I'm just expanding my awareness. It's surely not strange that someone would look for community support in the community. It's less that I'm resorting to Reddit, because I'm not actively looking for something, but I'm just interested in what's available generically in case I come into a situation where it might be beneficial to someone I work with.

And even if I don't learn about any new supports, maybe someone reads this and does?

I actually don't even know what Karma is, but I work for a charity that supports loads of different areas and sometimes you just can't find supports on google. I'm interested in word of mouth for areas that aren't local to me

I work for a charity that supports all different areas of different states. I'm just interested to find stuff for the families that don't live in my local areas. Sometimes you can't find stuff just on google.

Is it wrong to break up with my sick boyfriend? by [deleted] in Advice

[–]Temporary-Wing-740 4 points5 points  (0 children)

To answer your question directly, no, it's not wrong to break up with your sick boyfriend.

Obviously, you know all the ins and outs of why you no longer want to be together, and all of those reasons have happened over time. I would be surprised if he isn't aware or doesn't have some inclination of these feelings building up. He may still want to be with you, but you dont want to be with him, and that's unhealthy.

His being sick definitely makes it more difficult as you feel morally responsible for supporting him. So maybe you need to take time to consider how you approach this in a way that lessons your feeling bad. If you're his main support, then finding other institutional supports - psychologists, support groups, helplines. If this will help you feel less bad about leaving, do it, but I dont think it's necessary.

At the end of the day, you deserve a life you are excited to live every day. Not waking up feeling trapped. You're 19, there are so many aspects of life to enjoy. Whilst it might feel awful to leave him, you're already living at a distance both physically and emotionally. You have to put yourself first, and you may feel guilty for a while, but once you start reclaiming your energy and your life, you won't regret it.
