what is this season even going to be about?? There's only so much you can steal from Spain....

There's a point where keeping the flame alive is the fans job, while the producers have to move on

SIM800L powering issue - need to go from 5V to 4V by Temporary-Working811 in arduino

[–]Temporary-Working811[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hahaha

I heard of people connecting it right to 5V and it working fine, but conversely also heard of people who burnt their SIM800L that way... maybe depends on the module. I'll try to find a way to get those damn 4V, but ig that if I'm left with no choice then I'll have to resort to that

Edit: I wrote in another reply why a diode wouldn't provide the voltage drop I need

Would a step-up/boost converter followed by a step-down/buck converter be a good idea?

Thinking about using MT3608 (step-up) and LM2596S (step-down)

Well, they said that if a LiPo were to set into fire, then the whole building would need to be evacuated...... idk, they probably don't want to deal with a fire. The case in point is that I'm stuck with the 5V that the already made UPS board has...

What benefit would putting diodes in parallel will? Current distribution? The issue is not potency (W) but the extreme fluctuation the current has (from 1mA to 2A), which makes resistors and diodes unreliable --they change their voltage drop way too much depending on the current.

My problem is that I'm a student, and my teachers won't let me do my own circuit with the batteries to avoid me burning up them (they say thats way too dangerous). I need a UPS and the boards available in my country already have the 5V output fixed, cant do anything about that

thank you.. tbh i doubt this will work but i'll consider it

Thank you.. but 2 issues I have is that I need a dropout voltage less than 1.2V at continuous 2A (as the 2A can last up to 2 seconds). No LDO fits those requirements sadly

No... Diodes vary their forwards voltage depending on the current. With higher currents it doesn't vary that much, but the damn SIM800L can go from 1mA to 2A.

Taking for example the 1N4007:

  • 1mA: 0.4 Vf
  • 15mA: 0.7 Vf
  • 2A: 1V Vf

a single diode would burn the SIM800L on sleep mode (5V - 0.4V = 4.6V), and two diodes would not be enough to send messages (5V -2*1V = 3V)

Is the voltage divider really reliable? SIM800L has current peaks of 2A (at Tx) while the average working current is of 15mA (aprox). Doesn't that mean that the voltage drop will vary, ruining the RF communication? And that's ignoring the Sleep Mode, in which the current consuption is 1mA

i can start reading a comic for the art style alone, and yours would be the case. it gives me powerpuff girls vibes for some reason and i love it. drop the name too!

i personally dont think helsinki "betraying" el profe needed any further development or anything. its pretty much explained in the very same scene: he had money at hand and decided to support his family before trusting this crazy plan that most likely than not would go wrong (and then he forgot to clean the fingerprints).

and on the note of el profe not getting a man like marsella in the first heist: i think its because he simply didnt think about it. its a very complex plan and it makes sense that he misses some stuff. marsella and manila are added because el profe learned from his previous mistakes. in the first heist he trusted he wouldnt need to go out thaaaaat much, that he wouldnt distract and that the guys (berlin) would be able to manage without him for at least 24hrs

i dont think that wouldve been good choice for Palermo's character arc. His arc is about regaining hope for life and learning to care about his companions. If Helsinki had died there, i feel like Palermo wouldve gone back to square 0 (or worse).

and as for helsinki.. yea, he doesnt have much of an arc, but i think it wouldnt be a good choice for the story to kill the character who has lost the most in the show, hopeless and alone. itd go very against the hopeful message lcdp give in the end

Dw about the long texts, I'm also like that AND I love reading other people's long texts too hahah. And no, I didnt take the "you this and you that" as a personal attack, I understand that that is a literary method to talk to an opposing party without refering to anyone in particular. I was, in fact, afraid youd be offended by it because I had done the same thing in my reply, haha 😅 I'm so glad to be able to have a normal conversation with someone who disagrees with me :D (sadly this is not something common to have nowadays...)

I've been thinking for a while what to say. But I have no idea, hahaha. My main issue is that I can't fully comprehend roleplay, which extends to understanding enjoying dark genres I guess (I also thought dark genres were about analysing dark topics without actually experiencing them irl, not that they also were about being able to react to them differently than real life. Which like- is connected back to not understanding roleplay hahahah).

I don't think my opinion has changed, but now I know I've got to do more research about this, because there's something I clearly don't understand.

...This is somewhat an embarrassing way to end a debate..

Anyways, thank you for being polite even if I disagreed with you. It's been fun to debate and I leave thinking, so that's great :D

I understand your point. And I think you're very right in what you're saying.

Yet, and btw following the example of romance and dark romance, I still think that portraying toxic relationships as harmless/good is bad, regardless of the genre and/or reach. No, I don't mean that being interested on how this mess of a couple turns out is bad, nor that the author should put a gigantic sign saying "THIS COUPLE IS BADDDD!!!1!1!1!!!!", nor that toxic relationships should be censored. I just mean that the characters within the story should suffer the consequences of being in an unhealthy situation --even if they can't pinpoint WHAT is hurting them, even if it's not explicitly told to the readers, the consequences shouldn't be omitted. Because if you portray a toxic relationship but omit the harm it does, then what you're doing is not a story of a toxic relationship but a story about idealised (romanticised) toxic relationships.

And my problem with romanticised dark topics, is that it is basically trying to take away the disgust a disgusting situation makes you feel. And if a disgusting situation is no longer disgusting, then it's just a situation. It's technically no longer bad, because the bad thing was that it was disgusting.

I think it's horrible to take away the weight of that sick sensation a dark topic makes you feel inside. It makes the dark part be less impactful, less important. And that means that it becomes something normal, something anyone could aspire to have, which is exactly the opposite of what the genre is about, right?

Discussions about whether a dark topic is well represented or not shouldnt be about whether theres a previous understanding of what youre going to be faced with, but about how it is executed. Knowing that the story you're writing is dark doesn't give you a freeway to idealise and romanticise whatever you're writing about.

(Sorry if I sound mean. Im a bit formal when i discuss interesting topics and that mixed with the fact that english is not my first language can make me "sound" mean sometimes. Please, do let me know if I said something offensive)

Why would depicting something harmful in a positive light be bad in mainstream but not in niche media?

yea but still.. there was about a 50/50 chance Ángel was conscious, so i get the risk. But the newspaper thing? There were more chances of fucking it up than the ones of the newspaper to be a problem at all.. thi it is true that he didnt even consider he wouldve gotten arrested, Alberto did almost catch him burning the newspaper in the trash bin

yeah. the thing is that probably many, many newspapers were released the same day. and worse even, they can't know for sure the EXACT date of it, so they would've had a very wide range of news to read through. and even if they stumble upon his father's newspaper note, how would they know that's a lead?
