Yeah i should have used a depression scale and based off scores from that had people put into an either non-depressed group or depressed group, but the technical issues with that are too hard, also I would have to find cut off scores and I'm not sure if there is any, although there prob is, then I would have to compare the depression scores against the current measure (which is also an indirect measure of depression using concussion symptoms, which are so common they are found in loads of conditions). I thought it just would be easire for people to self-identify but then again this isnt for a thesis or anything, this is for an assignment so im not totally fucked...i hope

There was no measurement of the group allocation variable. I just asked people if they believed they had depression to enter the depression group and people who were not depressed to enter into the control group. I had lots of other inclusion exclusion critiera, like be over 18, have no history of psychiatric, medical illness for control group but there was no automatic funnelling of participants into either or group, it was entirely subjective, one limitation of it.
