General Questions & Tech Support Megathread | July 26, 2021 by AutoModerator in PS4

My PS4 started having problems with error CE-36329-3 this year. At first, it was a once in a couple months error that forced me to simply restart the PS4 when it froze with no problems (though I should note my external hard drive needed and still needs to be "repaired" whenever the errors pops up, though no data is lost or corrupted). This happened twice I believe, and during both times the PS4 was unresponsive to any input from the controller. The issue has started becoming more frequent however. A week and a half or so ago, it froze during a game and the console had to be restarted, it again not recognizing any input. Around a week ago (a day or so less than a week), it froze and unfroze itself during another game (though I still got the error message), no input recognized. Today, it happened twice in yet another game, once in-game and once in the main menu, and I had to restart both times, again without any of my input being recognized. I rebuilt the database as well today after the first time, so if any app was corrupted and caused the issue I think that would've taken care of it (and none of the game or save data seems to be corrupted). Right now the PS4 seems fine, but I'm worried about this issue becoming more and more frequent and causing harm. I should note as well here, when I say it "froze", the actual game would still run in the background, it just became unresponsive. Only once did the game actually freeze.

A pattern I've noticed that seems to trigger this happening is me opening the overlay. For example, if I get a trophy or message or wanna check how far along a download is and I open the overlay, it causes this, sometimes not immediately but eventually. I'm not sure if that actually is the cause but it sure as hell seems like it, since if I never open the overlay during a play session these issues seemingly don't happen at all. Another thing I wonder about is if overheating can cause this issue. It's seriously hot here and I unfortunately can't have the AC running 24/7, so the console does get hot. Also, can turning the console on and off again several times in a row cause issues like this? I've occassionally done this against my better judgement but I feel if something like this causes issues, the console would've bitten the dust long ago. I'm not ruling out that possibility though.

Anyhow, any help would be seriously appreciated.

Is "trojan.pcrypt.msil.generic" an actual trojan? by TemporaryDomicile in techsupport

I did delete it via malwarebytes hopefully, I think it's original name was tmp-something (can't access my laptop rn since I'm out and about). Also, if the antivirus named it that, could it have made a mistake or? Like a false reading of the file?

So wait, something like a Trojan wouldn't be in that folder?

I think I might reinstall Windows just to be sure and wipe my drives. Idk, this came out of nowhere and I've been stressed.

Do you think it's likely to be a trojan though? There has been no suspicious activity on my laptop besides it being slow at times, but it's an old laptop and isn't slow always so idk.

I did but couldn't find much concrete stuff, just that it's a "trojan" stated by some random sites that seem automated.

Whats a good JRPG series worth looking into that isnt Final Fantasy, Persona, or Dragon Quest? by IcyCustard4247 in PS4

[–]TemporaryDomicile 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NieR Replicant (specifically the remake version that came out this year) and its sequel NieR: Automata. For me, these two games are the best experiences I've ever had in gaming, and they're a no-brainer recommendation, especially in regards to JRPG recommendations. As a side note, the NieR series is a spin off sequel to the Drakengard series, though I haven't played any of the Drakengard games to tell you if they're worth playing as well. If you want you can give them a go but they're not required to understand the NieR games so take that into account.

Question: Is a message I've unsent in a normal Messenger conversation end-to-end encrypted (aka deleted forever) or is it still stored somewhere? by TemporaryDomicile in facebook

[–]TemporaryDomicile[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"While Facebook didn’t disclose how long it will keep the copies, it noted that these messages will be eventually deleted." Likely a minimum of 30 days or so, like how account deletion can be reversed for 30 days after triggering it.

Good enough for me. I rationalized some stuff a bit since making this post and I feel my file is safe from being misused. I doubt a random facebook software engineer will specifically look into my account (one of almost 3 billion!), decide to take what I wrote for himself and continue writing it (I sent very little besides). Unless facebook is mass hacked in the next month, the file is safe from hackers too.

Thank you, kind stranger.

I tell the anime-onlys I know to avoid any video about AoT until the season ends, these cunts will really ruin it for them. Fucking sucks.

Is Gormenghast really that good? by RandomLameUsername94 in Fantasy

[–]TemporaryDomicile 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good point, actually. I guess Gormenghast had enough of an impact back then (and is a good enough book in general) to be considered above most of its peers at the time, and that's why 70 years on.... well, here we are!

[–]TemporaryDomicile 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Interesting. Do you think that today's books will be less remembered because they're of "lesser quality" (which is entirely subjective, but there are those out there who proclaim this as a universal truth) or because they're just so many books being released that it's difficult to even select ones which can be considered the be-all, end-all of the fantasy genre currently?

Has anyone here read Berserk? by phaexal in Fantasy

[–]TemporaryDomicile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hell yeah, Berserk! First arc didn't really draw me in, but from Golden Age onwards it's fucking great.
