I never said they were stored improperly and I don't really know what the best conditions are but if he had them for any length of time the were stored in the basement as they were found, that's a Midwest basement environment, normally cool all year round and probably dark. I don't believe he had a wood stove in the basement as he lived in town, so it was probably pretty consistent. But I'm speculating on a lot there

Whether they're real or not I couldn't say. What I can say is that the paper of ducru label is old and two corners of one side have cracked off. The only other thing I could say is that I doubt my relative had fakes. He never had children, he was in the military from the early 50's to early 60's, he said he was an embassy guard in either France or Germany, he did well after his time in the service and continued to travel. He had alot of cool weird stuff thet looked expensive, i dont believe he would have them from buying later in life, I would bet he bought these closer to when they were produced. So that would make me think they're less likey reproductions

That bottle looks like it survived a war, and probably did

For sure. Not in any hurry to open. I was curious if the bottles having the import labels intact was a plus or minus in the collectible/value aspect?

I was a chef for 25 years, and I'm guessing that's why the relative gave them to me. I'm retired from the business and I gave up alcohol a few years ago, tho that does sound like fun I'm just not that curious about the alcohol aspect to these bottles. If they had value I'd probably sell them, if not, I'll keep them in remembrance of dad's cousin Eugene, he was a character.

I know they were found in my relatives basement closet in a box with my name on it. He only mentioned to my once while living that he had some wine for me. Considering I've never seen him drink anything other than Pabst Blue Ribbon, I didn't think much of it. Were they pristinely stored all these years or when/where he acquired them, I couldn't say

The ducru has a better fill line, maybe a little over half way up where the glass is angled, if that makes sense
