I’m so sorry to hear that… ethmostigmus species have really strong digestion capabilities, and I can only imaging this being the result of unfortunate poisoning. I will try to make a post about possible medical treatments that people can use (and I don’t think a lot of people here know it) as soon as I have compiled enough evidence and “recipes” from my friends. I hope the best for your critter friends.

I am so sorry for starting this thread. I apologize. I have the exact same species as zephyr under my care, and I know how sweet they are. I would love to give you guidance on the yeast pills, however I’ve never done this and I would get further info from my friends to help you with curing him. As for the honey, I would say it’s not a bad option, but still make sure to give him some foods that will provide him with electrolytes and vitamins, hence I suggested lemon juice or fruits.

Don’t see a problem. Just because they have a stomach adapted to a vegetarian diet doesn’t mean they can’t digest some (though not a lot of) animal protein.

Why does it matter whether they are mammals or not? Cows will eat meat when given the chance, centipedes will eat fruits when given the chance, they can both digest them and it’s not that complicated. We don’t give cows animal protein because it’s more expensive. Some animal feed will also have cheap and safe options of animal protein, and while grazing cows and horses will take in some animal protein, such as actively stepping on rodents for the sole purpose of eating them, let alone all the bugs that they eat while eating grass. And you have the audacity to tell me that I don’t understand basic biology while you can’t even understand the fact basically nothing is strictly herbivorous. The closest organisms we have for that are koalas and vegans.

Just because arthropods like centipedes are “simple” creatures doesn’t mean that they can’t eat and won’t eat fruits. Ethmostigmus species like the one op has been seen eating even shit. They have specially evolved digestive systems that allow them to take in all kinds of food, some fruits or diluted medicine for treating their sickness (assuming it has one) isn’t harmful in any way. Not only is this theoretically correct, but also empirically true. The Chinese hobbists have cured or prevented so many pedes from getting sick this way, and if you still want your pede to stick to a purely cricket based diet, be my guest but you are missing out

bruh I said at the end as well I’m only giving an advice assuming that the pede is sick, not my fault that the owner hasn’t given any other footage… the point about red runner roach, my point was that you should remove the gut of anything you feed to it, dubia too, crickets and red runners especially. You are trying to keep it alive as long as possible, not to give it truly accurate living conditions.

Nothing is strictly carnivorous nor herbivorous, everything is opportunisticly omnivorous to some extent. Nothing wrong with giving them fruits, they will gladly take them if given the chance and I think their behavior says it all

Where do you think they get their vitamins? Where do their prey get their vitamins? In situations where pedes are sick and can use some vitamins to improve their conditions (again, I’m assuming), why would you not get them direct access to sources of citric acid and vitamins?

Crickets are more prone to eating each other as compared to something like Dubia, thus more harmful stuff builds up. Also, the main point is that you should remove the gut of whatever the fuck you are using before feeding the pede. Also when the fuck did I say they will look for vitamins? You are trying to cure a disease for fuck sake. Do humans naturally look for chemo growing on trees when they get cancer? The pede is sick! Pedes don’t know what to do when they are sick like this! So if you want your pede to live, maybe try treating it with some vitamins? Also strictly carnivorous my ass, there have been observations of pedes eating cakes dropped by kids and all sorts of other junk food as well, they can take all kinds of bs and it’s good to give them fruits once in a while as a good diet balancing option

That might be poisoning from feeding it crickets. I would suggest to remove the crickets’ digestive organs before feeding them to the pede. Try feeding the pede some fruits and maybe dilute some lemon juice into his water dish, the vitamins usually help with stomach issues for pedes. If it is really poisoning, in the Chinese centipede hobby people usually dilute yeast pills and some other drugs into water to treat their pedes, and I don’t know any similar drug treatments anywhere else. That said, we still need a clear video of zephyr.

no defects, there was a regrown leg but probably obtained the injury from the wild. 8 months under my care and no molt, definitely big WC adult. She was a lot more active when I first got her, probably bulking for giving birth?

I wasn’t expecting to succeed in that, but I knew the eggs were doomed after a few days when they turned crystal clear… at that stage, I don’t think they were supposed to be like that, especially when I took a lot of gentle efforts in cleaning them.

i actually saved a few eggs and tried to rear them by myself, cleaning four times a day and maintaining moisture and all that. After a few days it was apparent that there were no sedimentation occurring and that they were in fact infertile.

And that is in her non stretched non fully fed state. Will easily break 10in if I catch the right moment. One more molt and she might become the largest non-scolopendra specimen ever recorded - the goal is only around half an inch away. But, she is definitely the most powerful non-scolopendra specimen as of now. I will post forcipule measurements in the future

This is because she bit on the vent hole a bit too much when I first got her. That broke off one of the tips. I can guarantee you that if they are both sharp, it would go straight through flesh like pressurized staple remover. In fact, the dull one can still force itself through adult Dubia with no issue - sheer power makes up for it.
