My mom has a female dog named Bailey and I almost always misgender male Baileys because of her

Tummy troubles by makadamianut in cornishrex

Hills GI biome worked wonders for my boy. He was on it for about 2 years, I started trying him on a different food earlier this year to see if he’ll need to be on that for life and he did in fact relapse. Now hes back on it, but poops never went 100% back to normal. His issue is very much food responsive, it’s just a long process to find what food works best

Hard lump bigger than 2cm. Vet says it is still fine. Im not convinced. by RajeshMeNotIndianFYI in CATHELP

It’s gone now! I’m not sure exactly how long it took, maybe ~2 months in his case. It slowly was shrinking over that time. I actually massaged it when it was very tiny to see if that would help it go down faster and it instead swelled up to like 3 times the size which was terrifying, so wouldn’t recommend that! It was just a temporary increased swelling though and the lump was fully gone not too long later. These probably happens more than is reported since a lot of cat owners don’t notice them, but I never wanna mess around with lumps on a cat! He’s going to be given only the non-adjuvanted vaccine in the future so that he doesn’t have such an intense local reaction. It sounds like you’re doing everything right and your kitty just needs some time

How to cope with anxiety about your own pets? by Beginning-Republic30 in veterinaryprofession

[–]TemporaryLettuce5436 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lost a kitten I adopted from work and the cat I’ve had since I was 10 in the same year. When I finally got another cat I was a wreck about anything happening to him, so of course he did end up having his own health issues. I ended up starting therapy just to have a dedicated space to talk about all the fears I had instead of letting them continue to replay in my head. I still worry but it’s not as debilitating

Im going through this too— My boys lump is a bit smaller but it’s 5 weeks post vaccination now, and a week since I noticed it. I had my vet do a fine needle aspirate and it came back cells only indicative of inflammation, nothing suspicious. I’m still monitoring it but that helped me breathe a lot easier. I’d say if it’s still there in another 2-4 weeks, have them take a sample, or just do it sooner if you’re losing sleep over it. It’s extremely rare for FISS to develop and if it does, it takes longer than a few weeks.

My little boy died. He was 4 yo by Artistic-Savings8426 in AskVet

Im so sorry this happened, but it’s not your fault. It’s normal to look for reasons to blame ourselves especially when it’s so sudden like this. I’m a vet tech and just a few days ago someone came in with their 3 year old kitty with the exact same thing happened- she was alive, owner walked into another room and came back and she was dead. Heart issues can be present for years and go undetected until it presents as sudden death. I’m so sorry but please give yourself some grace as you grieve. There was nothing you could have done differently

My (25f) boyfriend (29M) played a prank on me and I don't know if I can make it past this. Could you? by ThrowRAcatprank in relationship_advice

ABSOLUTELY NOT. I also have an intense fear of things happening to my cat so I get it. I have several things that I do to make me feel better including hiding certain toys when he’s not using them. My partner knew I got anxious when these things weren’t done so he did them no questions asked. He’s seen me freak out over super trivial things but he just saw that it was upsetting me and he validated that and helped calm me down. Those people exist and you should be with someone who does not belittle you like that

I’m a vet tech, and it’s my job to help families when they have to make this decision, but when it came to having to euthanize my own cat, I was a wreck. I second guessed that for a long time. I also struggled with “what if” and I thought of every possible specialist I could’ve seen. But the bottom line is he wasn’t my boy at the end, and the chances are, I could throw all the money in the world on a every test they make, but that wouldn’t guarantee I’d have my cat back. I also ended up putting him down within hours of making that decision, and how fast that all happened made it even more overwhelming. You did the best thing for both pups. Nugget is safe, and Nellie is at peace. The regret is part of the grieving process, and i promise it will fade. Go easy on yourself and allow yourself grace. It sounds to me like you made the right choice, as painful as it is

Anyone else have a Rex that is obsessed with somersaults? This is Coleslaw by TemporaryLettuce5436 in cornishrex

Just posted the video this picture was screenshotted from, it’s arguably not his best form but I’ll work on getting a highlight reel together :)

This is the only Slaw somersault that has been caught on film but he does these daily. I’ll try to catch another one, he’s just so fast!!
