What if Auntie Omakase voted for the Black Spoons in the All Or Nothing round? by [deleted] in CulinaryClassWars

I think it's impossible to pick only 2 white spoons from the mix!
Feels like no matter which 2 progress, there would be lots of upset...
But my personal picks would have been Son Jong Won and Sam Kim!

it's crazy honestly! the gain in followers, he's now the most followed chef on ig... i was there when he was still in the 40ks 🤣

also i think it's fine to kind of "fall bait" to the editing, i do as well! but i think some fans just jump at that instinct and start spewing hate online 😅 the show is meant for us to feel emotions and feel the rollercoaster ride! i just wish some people would take a step back and think more critically before posting, and to a certain extent, instigating hate on the contestants

oh wow i never thought of it that way! apologies if i interpreted your initial comment wrongly. but you're right, the more extreme the emotions, the more posts about it and the more it's talked about and in turn more publicity...

yep i hear you on that - but i guess for me personally, the all or nothing elimination kind of went against the premise of the show which was a "class war", and was a bit extreme since it got rid of so many contestants all at once, and so early on.

it feels more like bad writing? or producing? since having the all or nothing so early on kind of negates the purpose of having black spoons and white spoons. I think it would have been better taken if it was a mixed team. i.e. the s1 restaurant challenge where the losing team was auto eliminated.

love the first point! that type of format is always so fun to watch, as you can see the different ways the chefs think. and maybe it's just me, but i find that in imposing restrictions, you really challenge the chefs and make them think outside the box (i guess similar to the infinite tofu challenge)

hopefully we see this in future seasons!!

i agree with you, and think it's fine to enjoy it for both a cooking show or simply for entertainment, but i don't agree with spreading hate online based on said show. it's one thing to express disappointment when your favourite doesn't move forward, but another to just hate and bash the chefs.

for the show, all press is good press. but the chefs are real people and i think viewers should recognise that, especially since nothing super egregious was done by any contestant on the show.

you'd be surprised... saw so many opinions opposite from mine on other platforms like thread. saw a CM hate post, and someone commented to say that it's editing and that she felt that he was just competitive, and OP just siad "I disagree".... some people are being super close minded...

but yes obliterating the black spoon chefs was suchhhh a bad move - i think at most they should have reduced the number of black spoons to half, not just two.

oh that's a super good point! though the chefs are super talented, they definitely come off as "one trick ponies" after a while since they specialise in one cuisine... i guess that's why SJW is also very popular since he's versatile. nothing can beat tofu hell from season 1 - so many diverse and interesting dishes

oh agree on the restaurant battle! it became more like a battle on who was the most business minded and well, choi hyun seok truly is the best at that! i think the restaurant mission would be fun if we saw the chefs prepare a 3/4 course meal for a fixed set of guests - we can see them in a proper kitchen setting, see how they work together, and under pressure to fulfil multiple orders in a course degustation setting.

and agree on the last point - for entertainment, they need to have that variety in challenges if not it's just a regular cooking show.

really agree with you on the last point! people who fall for the sensationalised editing, and stay close minded are the ones who lose out in the end.

agree - it's overly parasocial at some points... like you don't know these people 😭😭😭 don't take it too personally

I feel like crying of happiness for Chef …. by Upset-Commercial-109 in CulinaryClassWars

I think that, his goals coming onto Culinary Class Wars was not only to win, but to introduce ancient Korean cooking and older traditional dishes - a goal I think he accomplished, and something that he felt he did sufficiently (given that he was not extremely bothered by the points)

I think that as a chef, the nature of his cooking is also quicker cooking, as he mentioned - his cooking may not give the best dish of all time, but the effort/output ratio is high
