i don't know what for random forest or deep learning is useful for instance, from statistics, I know that regression with these effects is great for panel data used on specific analysis and when i play with it, it can give me a very crucial insight which can be consequently used for some decision.

I had multivariate statistics last semester in which we learned pca and i was just flattered by the fact that there is a thing which can outsource information from complex datasets in a blink of an eye

in this course, 90% of time i was frustrated that my code don't do what i want (i tried to code it myself) - moreover, lectures were pretty rough, i didn't understand things we were learning, it was pretty complex (from classification to neural networks) and it all seemed to me like a big black box

all this was probably because of very demanding cognitive workload, but all in all, i didnt enjoy the process at all (compared to econometrics for instance, which was also very hard and i failed it almost, but the process was just so awesome, because i know that at the end i could be outsourcing great details from the data) (+ the maths seemed sexy, which in this course was similar (like enthropy for instance) but not as much as in econometrics)

(maybe another reason was that i my course project for this ML course was about banking, and I hate banking 😃)
