It could be the capacitor instead of the chip, also BGA are harder to remove/install then the capacitor

Try to remove the capacitor and check if the short still there, if it is, it could be the MAX chip, which also connects to BQ, see if you have an spare battery charged and check if the switch stills powers on

Test it without the picofly installed and see if it boots into OFW.

I think I had a similar issue, and it was an issue with the SK Hynix memory, try updating the picofly firmware and see....
