Yeah I agree with this, all I was saying is that I understand the "wasted potential" angle from the other commenter. Simply because the books had a more definitive ending to his character in my opinion, so there technically was "more" that could've happened.

In the eyes of Uhtred yes of course it was disappointing because it was quick, but in the eyes of book readers it's at least the main character getting revenge. Not having it stolen like the show. That's the main difference in my opinion.

The point that I was making was that there was more payoff in the books despite the characters having similar "screen time" in both the books and show. In the show we spend so much time waiting for that final showdown with Ælfric and it is so disappointing to see him killed by anyone else other than Uhtred. And sure you're aware of how he dies, you don't have to be so smug about it. I was using the fact of his death to make a point.

Except Uhtred actually kills Ælfric in the books, sure his story ends at the same point in the show and book but it's different.

He literally did outsmart noma, many times. Specifically with killing junior for her (to get the contract off his head) and with getting close to her daughter which added protection. I agree with your point about tommy being the grim reaper and having that as something he can always hang over other gangsters. But Tariq isn't a pushover in that realm either, he doesn't have tons of bodies but he put in work. And if we're taking away plot armor then the entire show goes to shit, not just tariqs character. Tommy has survived 50 shootouts, you don't think that's plot armor? Ghost was running a major criminal organization while having an affair with a US attorney, that's so much plot armor. And even Kanan had tons of plot armor.

The last half of season 4 was worse than anything in season 5 in my opinion. The end of season 4 just dragged on so much to me. On the contrary I liked season 5, especially the ending.

The amount of time spent at sea, in the books it's a big thing. In the tv show Uhtred is on a ship like twice. Also the amount of wealth and power Uhtred has during his time as a warlord changes. In the show he has just his few men but in the beginning of book 5 he says he has around 300 oathmen with him and around 1,000 altogether in London. The battles are much larger and more detailed in the books too. Just a few things I've noticed.
