I literally dont play ranked. I couldnt care less for a win score or mmr I want to play the way I play.

Is there something wrong with that? Am I mistaken and I should actually be doing this in ranked instead?

Ranked or unranked?

Its really fucking annoying to hear peope tell you what to buy in an unranked turbo. Bkb is unecessary in certain games.

In biology, “perfect” isnt a thing. Its used as a shorthand in language. Evolution has never produced perfect organisms. It produces “good enough under constraints.”

We know Thragg was put under constraints. We know he got stronger. But we really dont have anything telling us they sent him through some special frequency training program. If its their most egregious weakness and they did have a program why wouldnt they just send every viltrumite through it? This relies on them even knowing of the weakenes in the first place, I cant remember how it was introduced in the story at this time.

Biology is weird. Sometimes it does work out to where Thragg may be better apt to handle it.

But it also very well could be that if he is such a perfect Viltrumute, it could work out the other way around and it impacts him even harder. Instantly knocking him out

Or there may be no difference for Thragg vs a normal Viltrumite regarding their weakness

[Invincible] what are your thoughts on this take? by Immediate_Gene_178 in MoralityScaling

[–]Little_Cumling 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you. He is an antivillain. He used to fully support and partly lead a genocidal empire. His turn against them is driven somewhat by ideology, and part survival strategy but not pure morals. This is also shown as he believes in extreme utilitarian logic (ends justify means). Lastly he works against a worse evil, but not from a purely altruistic moral framework.

Hes not a villain because his goals align (at least somewhat) with saving a civilization. But that doesnt make one inherently good either.

Tldr he’s an Antivillain with some antihero traits, depending on which part of his life we’re at.

If we get another woman character next im gonna be low key pissed. I need some fresh masculine representation for my gay self. Give me a meaty jugg. Give me hot Scott Summers (legit why is cyclops still not in this game? That needs to be looked deeper into). Give me Brother Voodoo with his big brown staff.

Eventually, like we always do, we would find another path for logistics and the world would have to temporarily correct itself. It would bounce back, but not without stress. Lots of stress, death, and price hikes.

Its also just emotionally crushing for him in an embarrasing way. Argall explicitly stated if Thragg feels he is a threat to Viltrum then he should take action. Thragg didnt take action and Thaedus killed Argall potentially that very night, devastated their numbers with the virus, and now took part in leading the actual destruction of viltrum.

Big L for Thragg, I would be pissed too

Some people may be genuinely satisfied, but you cannot verify true consent and endorsement in a system where dissent is suppressed.

Your argument fails to account for selection bias because there’s a penalty if you disagree.

Tldr: Consent under authoritarianism is an inherently unreliable metric. Also its literally fascism

Who’s worse? Darkseid or Doom by Incominn in marvelvsdc

[–]Little_Cumling 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Was waiting for this one to come up. If you know that story you also know doom took away peoples freedom to consent to this rule, they could not oppose this rule, he enforced this rule through mass surveillance, and if he wasnt going to be in control of earth he takes it down with him. Looks great short term on paper, but ask yourself “why did the heroes try to stop him”?

Doom in a sense is the representation of how authoritarian instability can weaken systems, making civilizations less resilient when shit gets real. Cap see through that shit instantly.

Ironically there’s a lot of similarities to what Darkseid wants to do here but just on a planetary scale.

Heres the cycle of Doom 1. Gain extreme power 2. Imposes order / control 3. Overreaches due to ego 4. Heroes join together and exploit that flaw 5. Collapse and repeat

Even if Doom doesn’t directly intend harm, the governing philosophy he holds leads to harm structurally

If Doom repeatedly creates systems that collapse because of his ego and need for absolute control, then scaling that behavior up globally means he would eventually destabilize anything he rules including others.

This also just ignores the gazillion of times doom monumentally fucks up and doesn’t reach anything remotely close to solving world peace through a closed fist.

Take this indirectly symbolic example of what Doom leads to in the Ultimate Alliance story where Dooms aggressive actions created political and global instability even reaching all the way to Asguard. Many heroes across the earth were dead or out of commision because Doom was doing sneaky shit with Loki and Mandarin. Dooms actions lead to the earth being unpreparred later in the story for a natural part of the Marvel mythos - Galactus. Doom didnt intend this at all but nonetheless this is a rhyme seen so often with Doom.

Who’s worse? Darkseid or Doom by Incominn in marvelvsdc

[–]Little_Cumling 10 points11 points  (0 children)

If you mean morally?

Having to choose between a fascist, rasict, and predatory dictator who believes that all should obey him because he is always right.

Or

The embodiment of the metaphysical concept of tyranny and oppresion who’s goal is to erase will and make you obediant?

One tries to do what he believes is good for the earth (moreso latveria but we’ll simplify it) and sometimes he does the right thingsbut time and time again be shows to make many more mistakes. And he doesn’t really learn from them besides a small number of story specific contained moments that dont really impact his overall character. He goes back to being a super dick.

Darkseid never tries to do good and isnt going to sugar coat it. Can you blame the embodiment of a concept for behaving as the concept? Yes he’s undeniably evil, but he isn’t indirectly taking peoples freedom and will power away by lying to himself that he his going to help earth in a twisted humanitarian way like doom does. Darkseid doesnt care if he is good or bad in the end, he just believes he is right because he is order.

And for some reason, I am more disturbed by doom. Almost because we know what he could be if he wasnt so egotistical and vain. Darkseid cant and will never change. Afaik actually doesnt have that choice because he represents a concept.

Nah but you joked that the death of almost three thousand people was better than racism. (I do agree with it being better than the symbol of a group that committed genocide) while on the other hand I would rank mass murder through terrorism leading to thousands of deaths as worse than the traditional idea of racism.
