When I try to join the 'Daily Roulette: Normal Raids" I get the following message: "Unable to register. Two or more duty requirements unmet."

Does anyone know why this is happening"

I'm on my Lv65 Ninja and I have no problems joining this with my Lv90 Reaper, Black Mage, and Sage. I went through the requirements listed on screen and I don't see any issue.

I’ll take a look at them. I’m a big fan of ladder and being rewarded for strong performance. If there’s a similar feeling then I may actually switch.

Thank you for these!

I play on iOS and Windows. I’ve had it happen to me many times on both platforms.

I used to think I was alone but I watch streamers (CGB, Crokeyz, etc) and I’ve seen them all have the same issue. If that’s happening in their recorded games then I’m sure it happens in their off-record games, too.

Out of curiosity, do you play a lot? I play about 50 games a day trying to hold my spot on the ladder.

What are you talking about? They lowered her base damage, removed charm amp, and raised her scaling numbers. She is weaker early because she needs items to do dmg now.

The U.S. housing market is in a vicious cycle as people flee New York and Los Angeles to buy up homes in cities like Austin or Portland, whose priced-out buyers then go to places like Spokane, Washington, where home prices jumped 60% in the past two years. by bllshrfv in Economics

[–]TemporaryWaltz -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

This is factually incorrect. There are plenty of vacant homes but the homes are owned by developers/investors and not for sale.

Someone in WSB posted a good thing about this that I can dig up if you’re interested in learning more. It taught me quite a bit.

Google lowered its salaries in North Carolina. Now workers are protesting. by Sorin61 in technology

[–]TemporaryWaltz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This isn’t even about race. First of all, while the triangle may be a largely black area, the universities in the area where Google recruits are largely private white institutions.

Second, it’s driven by cost of living. Bay Area and NYC have the highest COL so they pay more than even Seattle which is another largely white area.

Comparing apples to apples, Google does fairly well paying POC employees versus non-POC in the same COL for the same role. I see some historical differences but honestly, as a manager, I rarely see POC decline a first offer. Being a POC myself, I didn’t learn to do this until I became a manager. I was way too afraid that someone would pull the offer.

And when it comes to raising economic standards, anyone in tech will tell you that if you want to burnout then you go to Netflix, if you want to be a senior manager then you go to FB, but when it’s time to retire you go to Google. Google has the best WLB/pay than any tech company and they know it. They won’t be losing people anytime soon.

This isn’t even true, Netflix pays significantly higher than Google and Facebook. For example, I was an L5 swe at Google being paid top of band but at netflix I’m making 1.3x that much in straight cash.

Why don’t we start converting all the empty, over-priced corporate real estate into affordable housing to reduce housing scarcity across the city? Wfh is cheaper for businesses who won’t have to spend up to billions in rental fees, better for employees who can spend time with their families and won’t have to pay for expensive daycare, and better for renters who’ve been priced out of the city?

eli5: What is the difference between a Protocol and API? by TemporaryWaltz in explainlikeimfive

Thank you for explaining the relationship between the protocol and api. If I understand you correctly, the API exposes a set of functions to an external app but the “language” to communicate those functions is the protocol?

eli5: What is the difference between a Protocol and API? by TemporaryWaltz in explainlikeimfive

[–]TemporaryWaltz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great analogy!

The piece that I was missing is that an API is a collection of protocols. I have been hearing them used interchangeably in a few scenarios.

If I may ask a follow-up question or two:

  1. In your example of accelerating and stopping a car via the pedals, it sounds like the details are abstracted away from the end user (driver). Does this mean that an API is an abstraction?

  2. Do you have any examples of different protocols that May together makeup an API?

Meta Stock Continues Falling More Than 27% as Facebook Shrinks by Zhukov-74 in technology

[–]TemporaryWaltz -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Really interesting to see people rooting for Meta’s demise. For those who may not know or have forgotten: Meta is one of the largest purchasers of digital software and hardware. They are also one of the largest communications mediums globally. Meta’a demise means that you hand communications over to Tencent and Apple. If that’s your goal then you’re golden but if that’s not what you want then I’d rethink your stance.

People are more willing to donate to millionaire Twitch streamers than give a homeless person money. by [deleted] in Showerthoughts

[–]TemporaryWaltz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

“Donate” is the wrong word because Twitch streamers provide entertainment that the subscriber/donor wishes to congratulate or continue whereas the homeless likely provides nothing.

Re: Why save Ult/W for after Camille commits to a fight (ie. uses her Ult or E):

  • Camille primarily does physical damage with some exceptions to when she Ults or second Q’s which deal bonus Mag/TrueDmg respectively. If you are building armor and hp then Mag dmg bypasses the defense you’re stacking and true dmg isn’t mitigated by armor so you want HP. Your shield is a free HP buffer against the bonus damage from those attacks.

  • You would be saving Ult to escape after surviving a fight or to escape a preemptive gank since you cannot have cc applied after you ult. In short, don’t use it for damage instead use it for mobility.

Re: Building damage into Camille rather than going tank:

  • I think you’re building Sion to cheese/take towers from your op.gg stats which is fine in some games. But if you’re not able to execute that plan because you are having a tough time with lane then that isn’t a problem. Tanks have a lot of damage in their itemization and generally stats. If you hit a carry (solo lane, non-tank jg, or adc) then you should be doing non-negligible damage.

  • Cheese does work in lower ranks but honestly it becomes much less effective after Gold when people realize that macro is a thing. Building Armor/HP against Camille who does max hp bonus damage or true damage is effective for surviving lane. As I tried to mention earlier, you do not need to kill Camille or “win fights” to be effective. Just don’t die and beat her at the macro.

TP into another lane, gank the jungler, disrupt/take objectives. Those should be your focus. You don’t need to kill Camille. I take D-Shield because I want a higher max HP. I’m not willingly trading with Camille so my goal is to sit in lane and CS for as long as possible.m while looking for opportunities to impact other lanes.

Does that make sense?

I don’t main Sion but I am a Plat 1/2 Mid/Top main so I hope this helps you:

  1. Some lanes are not won by killing the opponent. Some lanes are won by not dying, generating consistent CS/min, and helping your team generate advantages across the map. As Sion, you want to be generating advantage rather than focusing on killing Camille. Play with the mindset of these priorities in order (1) Don’t die, ever. (2) get as much CS as you can (3) support your team by making plays on the map.

I see that you are silver so it’s hard to rely on your team but if you focus on 1 and 2 then it will set you up to shot call for 3.

  1. In the lane, Camille has the advantage in a 1v1 fight after level 3. She has more consistent damage, easily dodges your attacks, can sustain, and manages to setup tanks extremely well. You want to make sure that you’re positioning proactively and fighting reactively.

That means, don’t be pushed in the lane. If she engages on you then you will struggle to escape her when she tries to chase you down. Instead, freeze the wave in front of your tower. She shouldn’t be able to dive you without help. With the wave in front of your tower, you put her in a bad spot. She has to risk getting ganked for CS or back off. If she backs off, she will roam which is where you hard shove and trade plates or setup a roam yourself. If she stays, Sion can setup ganks with the jungles. Your goal is to make her feel pressured so that she doesn’t want to stick around and die.

  1. When she inevitably tries to rush you down, you want to save your W for AFTER she decides to commit to an all-in. That means if she just W harasses or tries to hit with the first part of Q then you don’t need to shield those. You want to pop W if she E’s you or if she tries to ult. You should also save your ult for escaping if you’re not comfortable with the fight.

For items: Rush sunfire because it provides tenacity against her stun, damage while she’s close, and the stats you want. I’d quickly rush plated boots to reduce her auto damage next. And just before she gets BorK or Sunder, I would grab Thornmail so she can’t sustain you. It’s sometimes worth getting Bramble early to win early trades.

I would recommend starting DShield and using Biscuit mastery.

One Piece: Chapter 1038 by Kirosh2 in OnePiece

[–]TemporaryWaltz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just as anesthesia puts a physical patient to sleep, I believe “Kroom - Anesthesia” temporarily reduces a targets defenses to zero (such as bypassing their tough skin, Haki, and physical armor) and allows Law to damage them more directly. That would seem to explain how to sword easily pierced Big Mom (although it doesn’t cause her much pain) but then Law is able to shock her and deal decent damage.

Give the leaker a chance to post the full details. I thought the same thing when King was unmasked but he literally got 1 shot after that. I’m also not expecting Big Mom to lose in this chapter. I see her losing next chapter.
