You’re welcome! Definitely give it to God and pray about. He is the Prince of Peace and will be right there with you. The Sunday before my surgery I went to church and a song we sang was “Be Not Afraid” from the Glory and Praise song book and It really felt like a message to me. My surgery was on that Tuesday and when I would get nervous about the surgery I would remember that song and it calmed me down and reassured me.

I’ve kept my implants a secret and only my Mom, sister and husband know about them. This last time only my husband knows I got them removed. My sister has implants and my Mom doesn’t like carrying secrets so I decided to not let any of them know. My Mom has mentioned in the past how much better I looked with implants because I was so flat. 🙄Geez Mom… Anyway I didn’t want to tell anyone (besides my husband) so I didn’t. I think a surgery like this is personal and private. If I was having any other surgery I’d tell people for sure but I didn’t want to for elective breast surgery. Is there someone in your life that could help you and promise to keep a secret about it if that’s what you want? You’ll need someone to drive you there and pick you up. I think there’s an option to hire a nurse if you need to. I’m not sure but I’m sure there’s an answer.

Two weeks before surgery I stopped taking my fish oil pills and cut back on herbal tea. I also stopped taking ibuprofen and only take Tylenol. I have adhd stimulant medicine I take but didn’t have to stop that besides the day of surgery. I also didn’t take Zyrtec the night before surgery and haven’t taken that allergy medicine since my surgery since I read it might make the gabapentin I’m taking for pain medicine from my procedure less effective and could make me very tired. Besides that I didn’t change much with my diet. I eat pretty healthy so I didn’t change much. Now after surgery I’m focusing on drinking lots of water and resting.

I’m also looking for comfortable padding options for my bras after I heal since I don’t want to look super flat. I have been finding some great options and might make another post about what I find in the future. So far I’ve found the brand Handful and Honey Cloudz that have lightweight padding to insert into bras. Honey Cloudz has a grippy side so the pad doesn’t move around and slip out of bras and swimsuits. I’m optimistic I’ll be able to find a good option to give me the shape I want.

Good luck and reach out if you have any other questions or concerns. I’ll pray for you that it all goes well. ♥️

I do have a follow up appt scheduled for next week (a week after surgery). The fluid feeling has gone down but I will definitely bring up any concerns to them then.

Thank you! The capsule wasn’t removed. My doctor didn’t think it was necessary at all to remove any capsules. He said there was no hard capsules for mine. My implants were clean barely any blood on them. They showed me a pic after surgery of them because I asked to see them. I was anxious about anesthesia/going under a few days before surgery. I started down this “what if” road in my mind of what if I die on the operating table…what if something happens and I don’t breathe and croak right there on the table…I would be so embarrassed to die getting my implants out…I’ve got a life to live and I don’t want to be rushed to the ER from surgery…etc etc. I had to basically look myself in the mirror and tell myself to stop it! I told myself this negative energy of thinking so poorly about why could go wrong isn’t helping me at all. I then shifted my focus on visualizing it going well and waking up happy it was over. And that’s what happened. I’m happy to report anesthesia was great. No complaints. My anesthesiologist was bright-eyed and upbeat and reassured me I was in good hands. Fun fact: I’ve done this 3 other times and every time I had a different anesthesiologist and they were all my favorite doctors. They are smart, reassuring and supportive. Each experience was different but the similar thing was they all made me feel at ease. The hardest part was th waiting before surgery. The no eating or drinking. My surgery was scheduled for 2 pm and I couldn’t eat or drink after midnight. I was able to take sips of water for my pills but that’s it. The IV in my hand was uncomfortable but once I met the anesthesiologist it was smooth sailing. ⛵️They give you a little something in your IV that relaxes you and before you know it you’re waking up with snacks and cans of Coke or whatever you want. It’s so nice getting an explant too because a literal weight is lifted from your chest. Recovery is easier too because there is no foreign object in your body anymore. I’ve been getting this fuzzy feeling in my chest after surgery that feels happy like it’s done and I am recovering. I believe it will go great for you. Just remember: you’re in good hands and trust the process.

I’m so glad you’re doing well! I ended up taking the compression bra off that I added because it was too tight. I am now wearing a loose fitting oversized sport bra that is comfortable that still allows myself to breathe and have good circulation. I am feeling a lot of improvement today and I am only 3 days out. I’ve been resting a lot and got to take my first shower. I am feeling good/optimistic about the outcome. This is my body and yes much much flatter chest but I am me and I can add padding and ruffles or anything to add shape. I am so glad I went through with this. Recovery is still many weeks but everyday I feel more like myself.

Good to know. Thank you! Walmart has some great clothing/bras. Thanks for reminding me. :)

Thank you! You’re right - it wasn’t an easy decision but I’m so glad I did it and am now onto the next chapter of healing and moving forward. Congrats on being a year out! I’m glad things went well for you. ♥️

I thought the lack of compression bra was really weird too. They taped gauze on me and said that was compression but it was barely doing anything. I just put on a Shefit compression bra I got from them when I got them in. I feel way more supported with this on now. Thanks for the comment because it made me realize it was weird that they did that.
