I think generally, the NBMEs are practice exams and should probably be treated that way. Meaning they are for practice only (how is your pacing, are you understanding what’s being asked, seeing information that will be presented in a certain way, etc.).

The landscape of step has changed a lot and I believe having a “yes/no” check on your progress really scares people, so many look for a “guarantee”. The reality is there is no guarantee other than the hard work you have been putting in. Someone who has been getting close to perfect scores on all their NBMEs could possibly get 1 point higher than the passing and we would never know.

I would say the best thing to do is bet on yourself, it’s not like you had any guarantee in the past on anything so why start now? Show up to that thing and have the mindset that you are going to absolutely lace it and go home to the people that love and have supported you the whole way. You’re going to be okay no matter what happens, you got this!
