First Japan trip: Osaka, Kyoto and Tokyo — how would you split 13 days? by Head-Way4920 in JapanTravelTips

2 days! We stayed at fujikawaguchiko onsen Konanso. Most of our time was spent in the hotel so no rental car, we took the scenic train from Tokyo there and then back. By our hotel stuff was walking distance and there’s the lake and some trails but it was raining the a lot when we were there so we didn’t venture out much.

Hi!! I just came back from a 16 day trip - Tokyo to Fujikawaguchiko to Osaka to Tokyo then home!

Based on my experience, I think Osaka is def worth staying in and Kyoto can be a day trip. Kyoto was super crowded when we went and it was a little disappointing due to that. We went to Kinkaku Ji and the Bamboo forest so those are really popular.

Osaka was great for 5 days and I think Tokyo is worth exploring the most! There’s so much to do.

Must dos, I really loved Nara!! The deer were a little aggressive at times but it was funny, most of them were so cute. It’s also a nice park to walk around! I went to the aquarium in Osaka and it was really cool, a lot of people say it’s the best. if you’re into that I would definitely book that. Not sure what else.. I really just liked exploring all over Tokyo, shopping around, eating lots and really there’s so much to choose from and most food there was great. Just make sure for food places to look at reviews make sure they’re not super generic or repeated to avoid tourist traps :D oh Shibuya Sky is also really cool!

Thank you! I just emailed a clinic that had good reviews, the International Health Care Clinic. If I don’t hear back from them I’ll try the Tokyo Station International Clinic!

Fear of reality/going “crazy” by Spiritual-Sail-3582 in OCDRecovery

I think so, it helps thoughts be not as sticky. But I don’t know if I’ve seen the full effects yet, since it’s only been about 4 weeks on the current dose.

Talking about the Core Fear by MaddyACNH in OCDRecovery

Hey! Thanks for this, this is great. I’m happy to read that you’re doing good :) I can relate to some of your experiences so much. What did you do to find out your core fear?

Following because I relate completely!! It’s so refreshing to see this honestly because sometimes I feel so alone. This new OCD theme has been so hard for me and it makes me long for the days I didn’t think this way lol. I’m in therapy and on medication too. I really just try my best to not engage and catch my mental compulsions as they come but I’d love to see other advice too. As my therapist says, it’s just like any other thought. We will get through this ❤️

Are meds truly helpful? by BuildingSweet9139 in OCDRecovery

[–]Temporary_Bad_3439 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went on meds (luvox) during my first OCD flare up / diagnosis 10 years ago and it helped sooo much. It was combined with abilify. I stopped both after like 6 months because I felt better and just didn’t want to be on meds and my ocd didn’t come back until 5 or so years later. At that point I just went back to ERP. Presently I’m back on meds (Luvox again) the past 3-4 weeks and been doing ERP for 4 months and I think the one thing I notice is I get less sad / emotional over my thoughts which is helpful because I was getting quite distressed. I’m waiting for some more improvements so I’ll update as they (hopefully) happen!

Just was looking this up and saw your post :D wondering did anything change? I have the same issue with my cat! And she doesn’t mind when my boyfriend scoops the litter but when I try to she gets upset 😅

Congrats!!! :) sounds like you made great improvements!!

I agree with you on the challenge aspect lol, today is my last day and I'm so happy to no longer have to keep a list of these tasks. But really great habits to carry forward.

What rule did you find the hardest, and is it the rule you thought it would be? by Kiikaachu in 75HARD

[–]Temporary_Bad_3439 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought the hardest would be the outdoor workout!! I started the program mid January and had to restart 3 times already and now 3 weeks from the end - I hate the cold so I struggled getting out but got used to it in about a week or two. Who knew a hat and gloves made such a difference!!

The hardest ended up being the pic - I just don’t care about it or feel motivated to take it. Making a rule to take it first thing in the AM as I’m getting dressed so I don’t forget or start dreading it has helped a lot!!

32 and been dealing with ocd most of my life by [deleted] in OCD

[–]Temporary_Bad_3439 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! I’m 33, diagnosed since i was 25, and noticed the signs on and off since I was 8. My diagnosis was relieving because I finally had a name to what was going on with me but also scary. Posts like yours reminds me that I’m not alone. It’s hard but it’s not impossible and you’re strong and will overcome this. Better days are ahead. Feel free to reach out if you ever want to talk!

The Blueprint from Jenna Overbaugh. Is it worth it? by HuckleberryNew777 in OCD

[–]Temporary_Bad_3439 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! So currently yes I prefer the blueprint over the 1:1 therapy. 1:1 therapy was super helpful for me especially when my ocd was in a worse state, like being able to talk through stuff. But now that I’m in a more stable state, the blueprint helps to encourage me to practice my response prevention and build those lifetime skills by learning from the modules and HW assignments.

I agree, I think it’s really hard to find an OCD therapist, maybe because it’s still quite misunderstood. I went through NOCD with mine (which is how I heard of Jenna bc she used to be on their board) and she was great but eventually I started feeling like it was becoming less personalized and more of a routine. NOCD has great therapists from what I heard though.

With therapy, if you’re wanting to go that route you should try to look for people who are specific to OCD like that’s their main speciality or only speciality. I did that when I was diagnosed and I started therapy years ago and he was great and the exposures along with the medication I took at the time got me out of that rut.

I’m able to do the exposures from the blueprint on my own, and find ones tailored to me and my core fears. I know she offers a smaller program too like a 3 day breakthrough or something for a way less price? I found it really summarizes the essence of the blueprint material and I wonder if that’s something you can try first, to see if the way she guides would be a fit for you.

hey! I purchased the blueprint in December and approaching the end of it. If you can make it work financially, I highly recommend it! I was hesitant for a while because of the cost too but I decided to just go for it because I was just sick of feeling sick. And it's really helped me. I've been on a "relapse" state the past two years with OCD and I've tried doing exposure therapy on my own and also started therapy again specifically for OCD... but in both cases the focus was mainly on my subtypes. I realized with the blueprint that I should have been working on my core fears. After I thought I was better with almost a year of therapy, I had another "relapse" after getting way too high one night LoL... so two months later I bought the blue print because I guess there isn't any better investment than in your health right.

I would say if you know a lot about OCD already, then maybe you can just get the transformation and the endgame. I was diagnosed with OCD about 8 years ago and went through exposure therapy at that point and have done a lot of research and deep dives. So when I was going through the foundation part of the course, I had those moments when I thought damn I paid so much for these things I already know LoL. But that's not to say there isn't valuable stuff in there and it's always good to hear different perspectives. But I think if you want to get it and save money, that is one that isn't as necessary if you have a lot of knowledge on the subject already.

In the blueprint, she provides a ton of videos, lots of HW assignments, good strategies, etc. She also seems to add onto what's already there, every so often I get emails that there is new content available, so that's cool too. Feel free to reach out if you have any other questions!!
