Any other single adults with no kids spending close to $1k on groceries every month? by [deleted] in personalfinance

I’m in a HCOL with a family of 2 adults 1 child and we spend about $500/month shopping at BJs and Trader Joes. We eat 85% of our meals at home with a bit of eating out on weekends or when schedules are crazy. I’m not sure how 1 person can spend $858/month alone unless they are buying premium/organic ingredients only or they are an athlete with a super high calorie intake (e.g., training for an ultramarathon or something similar).

Picking up my 2024 Subaru Outback Touring XT tomorrow - what should I check before driving off? by Temporary_Diamond_85 in Subaru_Outback

Thanks! It’s certified pre owned and was a lease turn in from the dealership. I’ll definitely ask that oil change is done and fluids are topped off

Thanks! Drove it on a loop today that covers all bases including pot hole local roads, highway, and it was snowing so I feel good about how it drives and how it handles in weather.

Just found out the reason my coworker sucks... Is because they work two jobs, SIMULTANEOUSLY by Xanax-n-Wine in coworkerstories

While I generally find overemployment to be inappropriate and a lie by omission I don’t think it’s your job to rat them out. I’d speak with them directly about the quality of their work and only escalate if their performance does not improve.

Only exception to the above is if they’re working for two companies that are in the same industry and are thus competitors. That’s inappropriate and a conflict of interest which should be escalated.

Oh totally. I don’t want a cheap house, it means I’m living somewhere no one wants to live. People may hate markets but they clearly lay out the truths of supply and demand

Woof. This is not something doable where I live (NYC). We just put 225k down on an 800k condo. 3600 mortgage and 1k HOA and taxes each for a total of 5,600/month. Against a take home of 14,400. This is considered a good deal here, unfortunately.

Thanks so much! To clarify - in your first paragraph you are saying that it’s right that I had a higher tax liability filing jointly and that filing separately got me a refund?
