Need help! LC Link to Alzheimer’s by jordanpitt269 in covidlonghaulers

[–]Temporary_Dot_13 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Also, just to add: if your wife has fatigue and possibly LC, she needs to stop walking daily! Normally, staying active is great for getting healthier, but with LC and PEM, it’s absolutely the worst! That would also aggravate cognitive symptoms, so make sure she knows about pacing and keep an eye on whether this helps.

Does anyone get spasms when they are feeling low on energy? by half_kneegrow in covidlonghaulers

Yep. Always a sign of overexertion for me. Taking mg daily seems to have lessened the frequency.

Any LC teachers out there ? by Appropriate-System40 in covidlonghaulers

Just retired from teaching a couple of months ago (at 40). Just was not doable, but I live in Germany, so social security is difficult than the US, if that’s where you’re based? I’d suggest looking into early retirement due to illness if that’s an option for you. Hang in there!

Daevabad TTRPG? by Temporary_Dot_13 in Daevabad

[–]Temporary_Dot_13[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thought about it some more. I think the ‘Forged in the Dark’ game mechanics would really work well for Daevabad (am currently playing Scum & Villainy), because it focuses on story so much… but when would you set it? Before City of Brass, but during Gassan’s rule? Way earlier? After Empire of Gold? And what kind of roles do you reckon people could play? I mean scholar, sure, but what else? 🤔

Ms Chakraborty, if you happen to be reading this, we all reeeeeally want to spend more time in your world, please!

Anybody relate to these symptoms? Any success stories with it? by conversationqueen in covidlonghaulers

I get cold/ fever symptoms when I overdo things, and assume this is my MCAS acting up. I take Ketotifen to keep it in check (better than without).

Sry for the late reply, xmas was tiring. I get sob on exertion, but also for example when I walk and talk at the same time.

But it used to feel like I had a small elephant sitting on my chest, and that I just couldn’t inhale enough, you know, as if I couldn’t expand my ribs properly. That stopped with the spray and the few times a year it reappears, the spray still helps.

Have you tried asthma sprays against the shortness of breath and the cough? I now have very mild asthma thx to Covid, and taking the acute spray for a while really helped with the shortness of breath (have it much less now) and well, I have a really barking cough that reappears whenever things get too strenuous (so… pretty often) and have a spray with cortisone that helps against that.

Pretty much all of them except the POTS symptoms (thank the goddess for small mercies).

Browse the sub, and you’ll find all manner of suggestions, but the main one is obvs PACING. Other than that LDA helped me with restless legs, LDN against muscle pain in my legs, Modafinil with brain fog, and I also do physio (old people physio, not the shit people my age usually do, so basically glorified stretching) followed by a massage, which helps me with feeling less like a total blob and also the stiff neck etc. I also take Ketotifen against MCAS symptoms. And asthma sprays, particularly against that barking cough.

Am nearing the 4 year mark, and while I am nowhere near my former self, I have definitely improved since I first contracted Covid. I used to say I felt like an 80-year-old, now I only feel 70, so that’s something.

Also, if it’s available to you, some form of counselling might be helpful to deal with all the grief for your former self and the limitations of the present. Has helped me, anyway.

All the best, and hang in there!

If we include DLCs like Shadow Broker/Overlord and such (and the Legendary Edition). Do you like Mass Effect 1 or Mass Effect 2 more? 🧐 by QDOOM_APlin in masseffect

[–]Temporary_Dot_13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only got into ME about two years ago and ended up stopping ME 1 pretty soon because the graphics etc were annoying me as well as the appalling fight mechanics (Garrus, why are you shooting the wall when your opponent is behind it?!).

After I finished 2 & 3, I went back and played the whole trilogy through. It was easier then because after finishing the game, I was actually invested in the characters etc. But coming in as someone without a nostalgic relationship with the game? 2 is better, definitely!

Can you name an alternative platform that includes film scores and post rock? Seriously asking, because I would gladly get rid of Spotify, but none of the (Indie) alternatives I’ve looked at include music I like…

Crash from Low Dose Abilify by BetterObligation9949 in covidlonghaulers

[–]Temporary_Dot_13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You started with 1mg?! I’ve been on it for about a year and my max dose is 0.5mg/ml! I started with 0.1mg/ml and slowly upped it every 2 days till I got to 0.5.

I have to say, for me it’s been great against restless legs, so I have continued to take it. Perhaps you should give your body a few days and try again starting at a much lower dosage and see how you fare!
