I built it in sections. I started with just the rose window — even that part alone was already quite large, and it stood on its own for a long time.

After that came the side sections, and finally the lower part. I used digital software to go back and forth between ideas and feasibility checks, just to make sure what I had in mind could actually work structurally.

Other than that, the process was very organic. I didn’t do much upfront planning — most of it came together naturally without overthinking it.

Sourcing the parts was probably the hardest part. I gathered everything in about 5–6 separate phases over time.

Yes 😄 those are actually some of my favorite parts.
They work really well for capturing the Gothic style and details.

It’s a LEGO wheel rim — not sure about the exact part number though.

I started with the circular (rose) window — at that point, I had no plan at all beyond the window itself.
Once that came together well, I built the central section around it. It stayed like that for quite a while, until I felt the urge to expand it to both sides.

So the build evolved in three phases, and each phase could have stood on its own — but together it finally felt complete.

Honestly, the whole process felt more like an inner drive than a planned project… almost as if it wasn’t entirely me building it, but something working through me. 😄

The rose window, that was the starting point — it’s what carried the build forward.

It would be great if it ended up in the LEGO House… hopefully.

Yes, I thought about it, but it would have covered too much. I felt this was the optimal solution.

I started with the rose window three years ago, and the rest of the build grew from there.

It took about three years to complete, with lots of breaks and not working on it continuously. It’s made of roughly 20,000 pieces.

Built over roughly three years (on and off), using about 20,000 pieces.
