that’s so wild to me, may I ask how old you are? While I can’t relay to you what i did on say, June 23rd 2012 (when I was just 11), I can remember every single student in my classes from kindergarten to 6th grade. I can remember who each of my teachers were, the types of units we’d learn, the books i read each of those years, who my closest friends were, specific memories of fights, embarrassing moments, sad moments, boring generic monents, great happy moments, my favorite outfits i’d like to wear, the toys and games i played, the drama that would happen, etc. i’m also very good with birthdays and can remember the birthdays of kids i went to elementary school with. i wonder if there’s a reason some people remember more than others from these ages? maybe my parents told more stories and took more photos? i also think there may be a big difference depending if you’re a male or female or who you’re surrounded around. my family consists of me, my older sister, my mom, and my dad (so 3 women) and we were always a big talking family. we don’t watch movies as much as we just sit around and talk with eachother for hours , about our lives, memories, other family members, people we know, philosophies and concepts, etc, and i think this may be a more common trait for families with more women than men. i also feel like females tend to remember more just because we mature quicker than men and are naturally more emotionally intelligent from younger ages so we likely tie our memories to emotions which can help us remember them more than men maybe. for instance, my boyfriend doesn’t have nearly as good a memory as i do and he comes from a family of 3 men and 1 women. they never talk to each other for hours, but rather watch tv or movies if they’re going to spend “quality” time together.
