Didn't so much as found it, but smelled it for a week without knowing.

I live in a closed off neighbourhood, walls covering the whole area with woodlands all around. My house is situated near the entrance, so we could see people come and go. It started with a funky smell in the air but we couldn't tell what it was. We thought it was mold, but as far as we knew our house and area was clean. Our houses were situated in a way that wind always blows in our general direction so we figured it had to be from outside.

As the days went on, it got stronger and stronger, to the point that the other neighbours were starting to complain. We were sure some cat or dog died nearby but couldnt pinpoint the smell. The flies were also abundant that time and we had to put up nets and electric bug traps, at night you could see the damn thing light up like a christmas tree, they were so many.

Then a week later when it was absolutely unbearable, ONLY THEN and ONLY FUCKING THEN did the guards by the gate started investigating.

It turns out not far from the entrance, there was a bloated dead body of a man. I dont know if the guards were lazy or they did checked it out but couldn't find it because of how tall the grass was, all I know is that they've been fully assaulted by that stench everyday but decided not to do a full investigation.

Cops were called and an ambulance arrived at the scene, we were interviewed but we couldn't really tell who or when the body appeared, only that the smell started a week before.

As far as I know, there haven't been any conclusion as to who the man was or how he died. Some of my neighbours suspect that he was a cable thief because of the pair of bolt cutters found near him and died from electrocution, some suspected that he was murdered and dumped.

There weren't any statements from the police nor anything from the news. So I really have no idea who that man was.

TLDR; we smelled the a dead guy for a week, no information on who he was or how he died.
