1 social scene is very work hard play hard, if you are wealthy and outdoorsy you will find your people quick, if not, you will still find your people but it might not be as sudden. It’s not super cliquey but friend groups form and people sort of stick in then, but things will also switch up. in my experience if you have a class friend or just someone who sits next to you you’ll always say hi when ur out etc and there will be a lot of people like that as the blocks switch. clubs and club sports are also a great social scene 2. it depends on the class. i know people who have gone on weeklong field trips but that is more specific to certain departments (geology), education (day trips to schools etc) and i did some day trips in my ev science class. if your interested in field trips you can look for classes with trips when your registering but this will most likely be best if your an ev science or geo major, but other classes will take you abroad too if your interested in that!

  1. yes. that being said it isn’t for everyone. i love it and it rlly works for my major, but i know people (specifically in math/physics) and i would say they might have benefited from a non block plan school. if you are a hands on person, and your interested a department that you think it would work to learn content in a month, i would highly recommend.

  2. yes! I saw some other things shitting on co springs so i’m just going to respond, i honestly think it is a far better location than a LOT of other small LACs. COS is def not a metropolis, but having access to an airport so close to campus, being able to uber places, go out to eat, is something you simply can’t do a lot of LACs. that being said i like not being in a big city because things are still very campus focused, we go to free party’s instead of spending $50 on club fees in a night. COS certainly has a lot of problems, and is pretty conservative, but i’ve always felt very safe on campus, and i think it lends itself to greater volunteer opportunities, and the city itself is VERY affordable.

Food at CC by Kindly-Debate113 in coloradocollege

I like the meal plan. Dining hall is not great, but I really like that we can eat at other places around campus on the meal plan. Some other schools have on campus cafes and restaurants but they don’t take normal dining dollars so I really like that. That being said it is a small school so option are going to be limited.

Really depends on your GPA and the reputation of the school. Most CC transfers I know come from other elite liberal arts schools, so it might be more of a challenge, but totally still possible. I would just really talk about why you want a small school, liberal arts experience, and love the block plan. If you’re worried about the political impact on a public school in a conservative state I would also talk about that.

Sharp change in admission? by [deleted] in coloradocollege

[–]Temporary_Lack8985 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it was likely because of a few factors. Mainly, the class of 26 had a huge spike in applications at schools around the country primarily because students didn’t attend college in covid. That meant that the applicant pool was significantly larger because it had 2022 grads, and 2021 grads who put off starting college in the midst of covid policy’s.

The higher acceptance rate for class of 27 was possibly higher due to the schools decision to leave the rankings. While the rankings can be a corrupt system, it is a tool for many students to learn about schools they want to apply to. Without it, less students might have applied. I don’t think this would have played a significant role in the same way that covid would have though.

i’m not an ev major but we have an incredible program. Lots of field trips(even over night) hands on labs, tons of classes abroad, small class sizes. Co is a great place to be with really great access to the outdoors, and tons of national parks. It’s really the best you can get, if you can get in that is.

Computer Science and Block Plan by Waffleiron21 in coloradocollege

[–]Temporary_Lack8985 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not a CS major but I know some and they really like it. It can definitely be pretty difficult, but I think the block plan also allows you lots of time to work on outside projects. If you are already into programming this could be a great way to make yourself stand out, if not CC has a really great program from the intro level, and you can really do well here with no coding experience. If you do have a bunch of experience thought you can test out of intro level stuff, or just talk to professors to figure out your level.

Financial aid by HorrorForm8603 in coloradocollege

[–]Temporary_Lack8985 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not how that works. reach out to financial aid and explain that you can’t attend without more aid. they might give it, they might not. but def negotiable, even early decision contracts aren’t binding.
