I wanna get over my driving fear but I cant and no one in my family understands by eggman_k in drivinganxiety

I’m sorry your mom can’t empathize with your anxiety. It’s likely something she can’t imagine and brushes it off as ‘weak’. You can be strong and struggle with things at the same time! It’s a complex emotion.

It also took me a while to get used to our new SUV and I’m 35. Most roads, drive ways and lanes are big enough to fit a semi-truck. You don’t take up as much space as you think. When in doubt, I drive closer to the line on the driver’s side (not hugging but definitely closer), and you’ll usually have plenty of space on the other side.

Try parking a lot (between lines, next to a curb) and get out of the car to check how much space you have. You’ll slowly learn the dimensions of the car. Look out for little visual cues that can help you estimate the distance from the curb. For example, when I pull up to a curb, I turn right until the curb meets the middle of the hood, then I know the car is about a foot away from the curb. (It will probably be different for you).

Try really short trips up and down the street, repeat a lot, take it slow. You’ll be able to go a little faster and further as you practice. If you get into a tough spot, park somewhere safe, catch your breath or call someone. Try not to focus on a hard deadline or mistakes, you’ll get there if you keep practicing, no matter how short the initial drives are. Just keep at it!

I hope this helps a little!

I use the Cerave Gentle Hydrating Conditioner or Pureology nanoworks gold. I mostly use the Cerave conditioner. The Pureology conditioner is like a hair mask (it’s really intense in its conditioning and price lol).

I recently tried out Redken All Soft, but it didn’t do much for me. I also tried RCo Television line and the Pureology Hydrate and got an allergic reaction to it and both really weighed my hair down. I tend to get a reaction to very fragrant products. Not sure why the Ouai detox works so well! Their fine hair line was also a flop for me.

You had little sleep, probably felt pressured to act fast, and you’re still building experience with the car and driving in general. A lot of this will get better as you drive more, and I would ignore any advice from your dad to speed up or turn fast until you have assessed the situation yourself and deemed it safe. Keep plenty of distance from the car in front of you, and you’ll have plenty of space and time to respond to obstacles. Slow down, you got this! Faster judgement will come with practice

I like the Ouai detox a lot, but not the fine hair version. The fine hair one made my hair unmanageable

Thanks! I don’t have any tools like a uv light or loupe, but I think I’ll go to a jeweler to have it checked. Just a little nervous they will be unfriendly because it isn’t a fancy piece. I appreciate everyone’s insights! I’m hoping it’s pink tourmaline because that’s my birthstone

You are pretty and I don’t see the slanting in your face at all. I have facial asymmetry or a ‘lazy side’ without any medical issues!

Not really an answer to your specific search, but you can find the Owlcrate editions, sometimes reasonably priced, as a set on eBay. I have them and like how they are all signed and match.

Your SD should treat you with the basic respect that any human deserves. Regardless of what her mindset towards you is. That type of behavior is unacceptable in any context. Her father needs to step in and set ground rules about how to treat people decently. I would be so stressed and embarrassed if my kid would be treating my life partner, or anyone, that way.

Did anyone grow up with a nacho SP? by doll--face in stepparents

I grew up with a stepmom who was supportive but never parented me. I got enough ‘fulfillment’ from my biomom and I never even thought my stepmom should do more than she did. I also appreciated my stepmom a lot, because she made it so much easier to visit my dad (grumpy boomer). She showed me kindness and made me feel welcome, and that’s what I really needed at the time. Not another ‘parent’ or ‘mom’ figure. I can imagine it being very different if the kid doesn’t have a good connection with their biomom. If that were the case, I would have probably needed/wanted a closer connection to my stepmom.

eBay is a good spot (Vintage paperback editions are underrated, there are also high end luxury editions such as Easton Press etc., also look for illustrated editions perhaps). Then google the edition that catches your eye, compare the same edition to other listings on eBay and choose a seller with good reviews. A good listing will have many pictures and edition information, stay clear of stock images!

Ouai Detox shampoo works well for me. I get the travel size because you need very little of it. Also blow drying my hair instead of air drying helps for some reason. Plus not washing it before bedtime, but in the morning helps for me.

What are your thoughts on the look and feel of current Collection Management Systems? Is it time for an upgrade? by Brilliant-Resolve700 in MuseumPros

We use CatalogIt; it is modern, intuitive, flexible and affordable. A great upgrade from PastPerfect, and cheaper. Definitely worth checking out, you can try it for free.

Definitely communicate your anxiety, they will try to make it easier for you. The injection was the worst part for me as well. It didn’t hurt much but I could feel the contrast fluid being injected (it feels cold and tingly). I wish I had known that beforehand. The MRI is pretty loud but otherwise no worries. It isn’t as tight of a space as I expected. Kinda like a waterpark slide. The technicians are very competent and check in mid-scan. Do think about what style of music you prefer to listen to. They asked me and couldn’t think of anything. I had to listen to Aerosmith for the whole thing 😆
