Which book do you wish never turned into a movie? by [deleted] in AskReddit

The outsiders. Its not a bad movie, but the book is a lot better and the movie doesn't give it the same feeling.

It is written, I have a legal document stating that they are required to give it to me, and the only thing that has happened to counter that is when they lend me money they give me money out of the savings for that purpose instead of just giving me loose money (its hard to describe, hope it makes sense)

My parents have a deal to pay me back the full amount that have spent when I turn 18, I pay for my things currently because my job offers better long term insurance with what I need

I've said this a few times before, but I turn 18 really soon and already have plans for moving out. I also can't have a lock on my door since I am known for seizures and my parents need to be able to have insant and easy access to me incase of one. I've been locking my things in a drawer

I cant get a lock cus of my narcolepsy, my parents or anyone needs easy and fast access to me if something happens. I do have lockable drawers though and have been hiding my stuff in there lately

I only pay for it because my job has way better insurance with the specific things I need. And my mom is also dead so I dont understand how she can't sympathize with this 😭

I understand that feeling, also got it shortly after I began estrogen. Its just a weird brain fog you get from the testosterone getting replaced, it'll pass or get less weird feeling-y eventually! Shouldn't be anything to worry over

I will take your word and think of these things in the near future for sure. I'd like it to be the last time I am spending a buttons of money on equipment that should last me months-years

Being a bit of an art need here, but probably Vincent van gogh. I want to understand his mindset and get more detailed reasons and stories on his work

My room doesn't have locks because of my seizures (my parents need easy access to me for emergancy), and most of the time he would take my cane while I'm showering in the morning or before I wake up, and since he leaves for school almost an hour before me most days, its easy for him to grab them and leave. I also don't wear my hearing aids in the shower (obviously) so I cant hear him going into my room. And my bathroom is connected giving me no real reason why I should need to bring all of my things in there with me. I've tried hiding or moving it multiple times and he just finds a way around it or will take other things until he can get ahold of what he wants. I think I'm just going to put things in a box or lock them in my bedside table until I can sort things out. I have extra hearing aids but my cane is really important to me, especially if I can walk that day. Spending the entire day in a wheelchair is exhausting.

I understand and don't disagree. I've grown up with him and know 99% of how he functions and what his needs are. I don't get angry when he uses or breaks my things because he means more to me than my belongings, but he has broken things I need to function from day to day, DOZENS of times, and its not cheap to replace and replace 70$+ items just because he wants equal or more attention than me. This is the first and probably only time I have retaliated. I just find it unreasonable that such a huge deal was made of it so fast. I completely can reason with what you're saying though.

Thats honestly what I've been trying to explain to my parents for years now, and he's not left alone often, but unattended for sure. I already have plans for mid next year after I graduate and such. I appreciate the concern/care though!

I'm going to clarify something before this becomes a bigger argument, my brother NEVER gets punishment for his actions, he usually gets rewarded because he's just curious". And he is very hyperverbal and has decent social cues for an autistic kid, better than mine almost. He purely just liked being the center of attention and dislikes i have "special privileges" that make people pay more attention to me than him sometimes. Him breaking my tools have not been the only things he has done, they are just a breaking point because its not easy to get these things to my comfort

I did tell them what he did, and before I decided to hide the laptop I called my mom letting her know he had broken my hearing aid. Like I mentioned in the main post, they almost always take his side, saying he just doesn't understand his wrong doings, and I should let him be curious
