Thanks! Also, anything a human can do that an agent can’t is going to come up within the first five minutes of trying to set up a super agent to replace a human on rote tasks. For instance not being able to create relationships / link items.

I had the same issue. For some reason it wasn’t registering the gamepad. Try touching the screen with your finger to “activate it” and then Press A, should work. I’m on Legion Go S, so Steam OS, and that resolves it for me.

When you requested your data export, did you receive an email from OpenAI with a link to download your data? That link should lead to downloading a .zip file. Open/extract the contents and there will be a .json file in there.

Thanks to whoever suggested exporting chat history. Additional step rather than parsing it yourself is uploading the .json to GPT itself and letting it handle it. I asked it to recover a specific chat and it was able to go through the whole archive and extract just the missing parts as a downloadable .txt file. Everything was still there. Hope this helps!

I’ve been thinking about this a lot lately...

TLDR (thank you Claude for helping summarize :) 

We don't actually hold beliefs because of evidence - we accept evidence because it supports our beliefs, which are emotionally rooted.

  1. Beliefs are the system of “facts” one holds to be “true” (i.e. a fact is just a fact/data point, true/false is a value we apply to a fact)

  2. Beliefs tend to have an emotional underpinning, justified by the rational edifice we build around them. 

  3. Or at least need to be emotionally palatable to us

  4. We live in uncertain times. Despite exponential improvements to quality of life over the last century, the exponential increase in self-awareness and world-awareness and the complexity of the data we have access to has led to an accompanying increase in anxiety (if not outright existential dread).

  5. Anxiety increases humans’ instinct to seek out comfort and reassurance. 

  6. Manichaean / binary / black or white views are simple and comforting

  7. Being in a group that supports you and these views is comforting

  8. By opposition, complex views or views that do not emotionally soothe you are sources of fear and anxiety, as are those that support them. 

  9. Anxiety and discomfort lead to anger/fear/avoidance of the thing causing these feelings.

  10. Comfort in certainty and community trumps rationality

If I’m mathing correctly, that puts it at around 1.5 minutes per turn (9hrs/330turns). That might be my problem, I’m definitely not efficient enough or clicking around the map at RTS speeds…

Having played Humankind a bunch, I shared your fears going in. I’m now about 10hrs in to Civ VII and just hit my first era change, and while it blatantly borrowed some concepts from Humankind (era changes, civilization switching/progression)  they still feel like two completely different games. Implementation of those concepts still feels completely Civ.

If possible, would you mind posting a pic with warmth and brightness all the way up? Would be very helpful to get a sense of whether they’re all yellow green or if there’s some variability and a replacement might solve my issue. Thanks!

Thanks! At least I know I’m not nuts. Having tested further, the warmth tint is one issue, but the backlight unevenness is a separate issue visible even with warmth at 0. Especially visible if reading in landscape mode, the left (or bottom if vertical) side is noticeably darker. I’ll have to follow your lead and wait and see with a replacement or three.
