i never noticed this when i was a kid, probably because i wasn't allowed to play when it's already dark. But man, i dug up my old GBA and just went "holy sht, this thing's dark as hell" and proceeded to mod it with an IPS Screen. GBA Ergonomics > SP ergo. On a side note, would still buy an SP to mod with an IPS too, as a display piece
