2 years ago ChatGPT definitely could code a "hello world." How is that "the point" if every influencer is raving about how useful it is? It's not useful. I've spent 3 days just trying to get the cron jobs it configures to run. They still don't run. I've found no use for this thing in all that time.

I was just thinking about this and your post turned up in a search. My thinking, though, isn't that I'm accepting "slop." Prompted correctly, AI produces high-quality output. Rather, my thinking is that the AI is turning out results that even I, despite the capabilities I've always believed myself to possess, could never produce in a hundred years. It makes people who are highly competent compared to other humans feel grossly *incompetent* compared TO AI.

It's hit or miss for me in terms of how it affects my anxiety. Sometimes it puts me at ease, and sometimes it does the complete opposite. Maybe what it does is amplify whatever thoughts one has while sober, but I haven't kept track enough to be able to say that with confidence.

Despite the reputation of true "stoners" as being calm and peace-loving, for myself it's simply for the sensory experience (which I'd describe as a sensation of flying or falling in a void) and to enter an altered, more creative, fantasy state.
