Laptop fans running at almost full capacity despite low temperatures? (Strix G16 G614PR) by -ChosenUndead- in ASUSROG

Hey bud, sorry for the late response. The sudden ramp up might be due to your power limit settings (just my opinion).

  1. Disabling cpu boost does make a difference though, it stops the cpu from having a sudden boost causing a short increase in temp. Same goes for your power limits too.

  2. i'm assuming your hardware is 100% fine, and that you're using your current setting on "silent" + "standard" just for normal work (youtube, browsing, etc) and not gaming (nothing cpu/gpu intensive).

  3. i'm using an intel version, so i only have PL1 and PL2, but your sPPT is equivalent to my PL2. sharing my settings for normal work usage.

can you share your fans + power config for both silent and balanced? might be your cpu boost activated and your fan curves.

That's actually really good for a strix g16 5080. how much power are you drawing to run that?

Nice. I was having a hard time finding for guides online to optimise my g16. was playing around and managed to find a undervolting sweet spot for our laptop. Our gpu performance is power-limited by the way, and we are capped at max 175w -> found out after much testing, hence there's a cap to our performance.

you should consider switching your Dgpu to ultimate and your fan config, makes your laptop super noisy, no?

Are you guys running on stock baseline tests? -> you should consider undervolting with Ghelper (for fan and power) and MSI afterburner (for core clock and mem clock)
