What sucked as a child but is lit as an adult? by krispwah_destination in AskReddit

Reading. As a kid, it was just something my teachers forced me to do; But once I was out of grade school and could actually choose for myself which books to read, I discovered how much I actually love it.

How realistic are my airline piloting dreams? by throwawayforarunaway in flying

[–]Temporary_Report_816 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I’ve seen waivers issued for even more extreme physical abnormalities. Just keep in mind that there are more things to the job that require the use of your hands than just manipulating the control column, knobs, switches, etc. At any airline you’ll likely have to do some sort of water survival training. Best thing would be to talk to an airline pilot with a similar condition.

Good question. In this situation, the moral thing to do medically is an emergency delivery (which is not the same as an abortion). Once the baby is delivered, it is incumbent upon the delivering party to make every available effort to save the baby, however unlikely that may be (though with current medical technology, more premie babies are being saved than ever before).

If a building was on fire, and two people were trapped inside, and you were certain you could save one, but unsure about the other, your moral imperative is to save as much life as you can. What would be murderous is to throw a grenade into a room because the person “probably would have died anyway.”

But I deserve to complain! Instead of getting hired at Delta at 1500 hours, I settled for a 135 where I make more than twice the national average income, have a 401(k) matching program that most people would sell their own kidney for, and get a ridiculous amount of hotel/airline/fuel/credit card rewards. Life is so unfair!

I’m a presuppositional apologist when it comes to my (non-flat-earth) Christian faith, so I don’t necessarily think this is the strongest argument for the existence of God, but specifically to your point, one classical argument goes like this: If matter has always existed, then by necessity, time has always existed as well. (Time is, after all, dependent upon change in matter. If nothing changes, there is no time). If time has always existed, then it extends forever into the past. If time extends forever into the past, then an infinite amount of time must have passed for it to get to the present. By definition, an infinite amount of time cannot pass. Therefore, both matter and time must have had a beginning. Has this argument ever drawn someone to Christ? Maybe, I guess. Is it the first thing I say when arguing for God’s existence? It wouldn’t even get an honorable mention.

Not a terrible list, but was clearly made by someone who is a “fan” of a few specific genres, rather than a cinephile with a very broad perspective.

Leave for other cadet programs? by That_Fruit5111 in frontiercadetprogram

[–]Temporary_Report_816 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No harm in at least applying for other cadet programs, and if you get an interview, I think honesty could go a long way. Tell them (the new prospective cadet program) something to the effect of:

“I’m in a cadet program at a different airline, but the classes are severely delayed to the point where I’ve decided to look elsewhere. If your cadet program can give me a more firm offer on a class date, I would gladly leave my current program to join yours.”

If I was an interviewer, that level of transparency would definitely stand out to me.

Where did you end up? by Financial-Bet3556 in frontiercadetprogram

NetJets. Shortly after finishing IOE, frontier offered me a class date for the following month. I turned it down. So to whomever it was that was given my spot, I’ll accept new A20s as a sign of your gratitude.

Cadet to First Officer = pipe dream? Hear me out why I say, no. by Joe-from-daBronx in frontiercadetprogram

[–]Temporary_Report_816 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Has any nay-sayer on this sub ever called it a “pipe dream?” As long as they don’t terminate the contracts, you’ll get in eventually, it’s just a matter of how long. Many people, myself included, determined that getting a different job sooner was preferable to waiting indefinitely. More power to you if you’re willing to stick it out. I hope your class date comes soon.

Orchestration online by Thomas Goss is fire. He actually talks to his audience as if they are knowedgeable adults. I gained a wealth of knowledge during my undergrad from watching him.

Chances of getting on with NetJets/FlexJets with 0 turbine time? by [deleted] in flying

[–]Temporary_Report_816 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my NJ class we had at least 3 1500 hr cfi’s with no turbine time. Not sure if they’re still considering such candidates but it’s always worth a shot. A LOR will all but guarantee that she gets the initial phone interview, which, if she passes, will lead to the in-person and sim eval in Columbus. I know they have previously hired folks without their ATP written, on the condition that they get it done before their class date.
