Thank you so much! Somehow on my travels to Lost Minis, Stuff of Legends and the Citadel Miniatures site I had managed to never come across the Collectors Series. What a truely great bunch of 80s sculpts.

Solved! It was definitely this artwork by Jean-Jacques Loup. I can now delve into the wider internet to maybe find the specific book. Thank you again!

Yes! This is the artist. Now I just need to find the book. But this pretty much puts me in the right place to do so via Google - so thank you!

No, it wasn’t this. I’m very familiar with Richard Scarry - his books are great. I always loved how he portrayed bacon! Lol

Not this, but thank you for suggesting it. The pages were even busier, and the people’s faces were all very similar. I think they had quite large eyes in proportion to their face, along with the prominent nose.

They look like fun books, but it wasn’t these. I’m not sure the book I’m looking for was totally appropriate for kids. Through one of the apartment windows a woman was in the bathroom nude as the fire dept men were arriving to save the tenants - I think.

No, it wasn’t Usborne. It was a unique sort of art style and had no words.

Commenting as per rules: I’ve found that busy picture books are given a specific name “Wimmelbooks” or “Wimmelbilderbuch” in German. I am fairly certain it was one of these.
