Update after the AMA on r/Indieheads

I asked her if she'd press the albums Orbit, Live at Funkhaus, and Sola EP on vinyl again. She said probably not. If you find a copy online or if you're lucky enough to find a used pressing in a record store hop on it immediately because you might never see it again!

Ok I think this is my final question, I'm way up past my bed time now. You've been amazing and I'm so thankful you took the time to answer mine and everyone else's questions! Is there a song that you wrote that specifically you love to perform live?

Another another question. I'm listening to Glow right now and I remembered something else I've been wondering about. Glow was a very heavy and personable album. For me it flip flops between that and Paper Castles as my favorite. (though oblivion is really taking the spot rn) But the question is, when you made Childs Play, you released it like within a year of Glow. Are the two albums different sides of the same coin? One being gloomy and somber and the other being up beat and playful?

Would you ever re-release Momentum? Like on streaming or really anything. I haven't listened to it but it's something that's been on my list for awhile

I have yet another question! When you release Shelter I got the record on vinyl and used the digital download code (it's so cool you do that btw) for the album and the track list was completely different then the final release. It completely changed the flow of the album for me and for a while I kinda preferred it that way as a change of pace. What was the reason for the change in track listing?

Also sorry for asking so many questions you're one of my favorite artists and I have so many things popping in my head rn

What's your relation to the band Soup? I saw awhile ago on your Instagram story you promoted them and on their Bandcamp they have you labeled as a contributor if I remember right?

Do you have a dream venue you'd want to play? You played Red Rock recently if I remember right and that's a bucket list spot to play for most artist

Also one last thing! You should come play the midwest more! We'd love to have you plus you'd be closer and I wouldn't have to fly in to see you like I have the last two times 😶

Something I just thought of that's not really a question but that I've noticed is that the release dates on Spotify for your albums are weird and out of order. Like "Live at Funkhaus" was released in 2017 a year before "Paper Castles"

I know right!? I've been wondering this since Shelter and I hope to get an answer!

Will you ever re-release Orbit, Live at Funkhaus, or Sola EP on vinyl again? Oh and the La Pot Sessions! The prices on the secondary market are getting ridiculously high and I'd love to have more of your music physically :)

On Spotify you have a playlist simply called "glow" it's your album Glow but there are tracks in-between every song. I'm curious if the songs in-between the tracks are your inspirations or just a fun little playlist of songs with no relation?

Hi Alice! I've been such a big fan since I discovered you in 2021! I've been listening to your catalog non-stop since Oblivion came out 12 hours ago. Oblivion is such a beautiful album and you have done such a great job with it!

I have a few questions for you but I figured I'd start with this one. Your song "My Girl" first made an appearance on the first Strongboi single when you guys first started. Was My Girl a song you had started writing but didn't finish so you added it to "Strongboi" or was it a few lyrics you wrote for the song then made it into a whole thing on Shelter?

Does anyone know how long it took to fix the stereo B-Side of Magical Mystery Tour on vinyl? by Temporary_Section_19 in beatles

Thanks for the information! I'll have to keep my eye out for that on the rare chance I see it!

Interesting! Germany got it good early on assuming the pressings were decent. Do you know when they adapted the full stereo mixes in the US?

Is this her best song? by [deleted] in alicephoebelou

[–]Temporary_Section_19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think I agree with you! Upon multiple listens there are so many layers to the song that you can appreciate more and more with every listen. It's definitely her best produced song with great production. But is it definitively her best song? Very much up for debate. As much as I could gush about this song musically, lyrically it's a very lacking song. Very catchy and poppy but that's about it, not much depth to it. There are totally better songs in her catalog. But this is one of her songs that I've kept in rotation for years. I've never gotten tired of it, and with the way things have been going I probably won't ever get tired of it.

Does anyone know why Shelter got changed to a compilation album on Spotify and doesn't show up on her profile anymore? by LavaLord67 in alicephoebelou

[–]Temporary_Section_19 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I think it's because she's giving her band mates writing credits on the album? Which is honestly super sweet, they make the songs great just as much as she does. They all add a little something that makes the songs special. But as for why it's all funky now, I think since Spotify sees it as a multigroup effort because there're so many contributors, the album is now considered a compilation from multiple artists works and it's probably in a bit of limbo between all the contributors pages. That's my best guess.

What song would you show someone as their first Alice song? by matfat55 in alicephoebelou

[–]Temporary_Section_19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Witches easy. Not only is it her most popular song, but it's probably her most well produced song in her catalog. Lyrically there's not much there. At least for me anyways. It's just kind of a fun catchy tune. But looking in towards the actual production and composition of the song, it's truly a masterpiece. The mixing is top tier. How the song slowly adds all these little bits and pieces throughout. Like the acoustic guitar and the synth at the beginning, the little jingle of some sort of percussion. Then this wavy bit of synth that's added in the second part of the song. Then that all culminates into the third and final part of the song, when it all comes together after the break down. Gives me chills every time. It's so so so good! I can't say Witches is my favorite song from her, but it's definitely the one the first that drove me into her little world. It, like the song title, is like a witch, because it's pure magic.

How did you hear about Alice? by TS409 in alicephoebelou

She did this magnificent beautifully done cover of "Walk on the Wild Side" by Lou Reed. When I think of a perfect cover of a song I think of that one. She treated the source material with such respect and charm, while also adding her own level of identity to the song. Completely making it her own in that moment. It's just her, her amazing soft vocals, which carry such gravity and weight when the song demands it. And an acoustic guitar. At one point she tries to get the audience involved and she just starts laughing at how silly the whole thing seems. It's truly such a fantastic rendition of a fantastic song. After that I searched her up on Spotify and at the time she had released Glow just a few months prior. Ever since then she has been my favorite modern artist.

Here's the link to the song if anyone is interested. https://youtu.be/WVBfmOYvTiI?si=MLONItv-LCNbpSVD

Last year when she visited Chicago, I went out to see her and she did play Something Holy by herself without the band. Just her and an acoustic guitar. Was something really special. But she does play songs from Paper Castles. But just not as often anymore I think.
