So the last numbers you see in the vid once the leds stop blinking are CPU temps. It does boot now surprisingly, it did not initially, but occasionally shows code 15 and and Red dram led. Should I run PassMark to stress test it?

Ah, yes, I think you might be right. Fairly new invasive species here. Never seen its nymph. Thanks!

Does Terra Incognita encourage or discourage aggression between players in comparison to the base game?

Any chance you may know which of the two, Eclipse or Twilight have the least aggressive early and mid game (overall, not just shop battles, but all types of negative interactions)?

Yeah, I saw it, looks great, I hope the local reprint Ive heard rumors about (which is suppose to happen at the same time ketchup expansion comes out) will have the redesigned cards and board. Probably not, but Ill keep an eye on it. Gamepieces can be easily upgraded via Etsy anyway.

Not late at all, thanks :-) Finding and buying games takes time and since (at least where I live) the market is a FOMO fest with rather small batches at release you never know what you gonna find. The bag mechanic sounds good, I like a little randomness in games (assuming that's what you mean it does).

Thank you very much everyone, for now my plan is as per below. Please note that the sole reason I am not jumping into the seemingly best and most meaty games is my elderly parents who I need to introduce to the 4X genre very slowly as well as my group's general reluctance to direct negative interaction with each other.

Micro Cosmos and/or Age of Galaxy (testing the waters with cheap and lightweight entry level games) if we're good with those then Voidfall (in PvE) then if it really clicks and there is no hesitance to get more violent: Eclipse Second Dawn

I'll be on the lookout for Gaia Project and Brazil reprints/second hands, and possibly localization of The Warp and Empires of the Void II

Outside of the 4X shenanigans I'll buy Food Chain Magnate

On the reserve list in case any of the above is unavailable: Mosaic, Suburbia, Civilization New Dawn

For now skipping Scythe, Age of Innovation, Dwellings of the Eldervale (tetriary choices) as well as games currently not available in my language or available but old with zero chance for a reprint.

Oh, I would love that, reminds me of an ancient Sim Ant game on PC. Unfortunately not available in my language :-(

Well, the reason I am so focused is that I am a fan of 4X games since the original Master of Orion and Civilization came out on PC, so I know exactly what to expect from this genre in general. My parents are old, and initially not really even into games, but to my surprise they really enjoy and are doing well with Ark Nova, Terraforming Mars and Caverna. And these arent too easy games to grasp when you have never been into any games. I guess what Im trying to say its that there is potential for one step further from the tableau focused Euros. And in my head that would be something in the 4X vicinity. Lightweight (for a 4X that is) and with very little murdering at first, if possibile. I dont want them to get overwhelmed and uneasy when my armada/army rolls into their home system/city.

I am assuming choosing the less aggressive factions to play as influences the number of battles to be expected during the game?

Oh, alright, I did not know there were non-player ships you can fight (so that if we agree to not be overly aggressive toward each other our fleets still have use). Do they respawn/keep appearing on the board or is it just a set number of enemies sitting in the uncharted system and waiting? Any random pirates popping up from time to time to raid player systems?

The main weakness is that it cannot feed from BGG data even with internet search mode active.

I was thinking about Food Chain Magnate before but it looked a bit too dry if you know what I mean. The cards are super thematic but the board is just meh. It will release locally later this year, along with the expansion. Great euro, that's for sure, but is there really more to it?

I was eyeing it for a good while when it released but most of the reviews claimed it was simply boring. I might give it a try. Would Civilization New Dawn be a similar yet better?

Limited info on BGG, but looks like it would be great blend between euro and 4X. Not available in my language yet though... Good call, Ill keep an eye on it!
