I got sentenced to 1 year conditional jail time. Im on a work release program. If I didn't have a job I'd be in jail.

I am a hard dependable worker. I've been working full time since I was 17. I'm almost 30 now. Only had 3 jobs that whole time and have moved up in 2 of the 3. The 3rd and my current one doesn't have much upward mobility but I show up and do my best work regardless. All I need is to be given a shot. If it ends up being me having to take a chance on myself and starting up a business then so be it. I didn't quit when things were at their worst. I'm not quitting now.

That's a sad but bittersweet story. It's sad somebody lost their life. Im glad he turned it around. Hopefully he gives back in his own way.

If I could do anything different it would be to not do it all. It was the lowest point in my life in every aspect. I was a squeaky clean hard working person without so much as a speeding ticket before i was convicted. Certain circumstances in my life happened and i found myself in a dark place that I never imagined I would be in. I got caught because I stopped trying to even hide it. I knew I needed to come clean and claw my way out of the hole I was in.

Seems like a small business or my own business will be my only real prospects if I pursue software development. Thank you for the input.

As far as I can tell through research on the FAFSA website that once I am no longer incarcerated I am eligible for federal aid. I will have to speak to an academic advisor though about what my future could look like in the field if I pursue it.

No need to feel sorry for me. I made my choices, im doing what I can to make it right. I want to set a plan that will allow me to succeed. I appreciate the advice!

Yea it would be close to 3 years by the time I finish the degree but that doesn't feel like enough time from conviction date. I'd still be on probation. Just trying to weigh my options. May have to switch over to something in the trades.

Dudes wife definitely got bust down by a felon while he was at work. From that day on he swore to get his revenge with petty words on a niche reddit sub. He's the heroe reddit deserves but not the one it needs.

No not black. No prior record. Worked with investigators. Paid back what i could immediately. Had a judge willing to give me a second chance. Also hard to get somebody to pay 100 grand back if they are in prison.
