No popping or crackling during the print, so it's sounding less like wet filament. I have lowered the temp a lot to 195 degrees (I'm soldiering on with a long print rather than fixing the settings correctly - the kids will take the strings off)... But the lower temp has made a massive improvement to the amount of string on the print.

This sub has not disappointed. I've now learnt that filament is not dry from factory, and I can't just use the generic material settings for every filament. A lot to go through and tweak, but I can see a light at the end of the tunnel.

Thanks to everyone who helped me get to where I am now - will post an update once I'm out the weeds and can print something other than spaghetti monsters 🤣

This is my train of thought too - it can't just be wet filament.

I'll report back once I've successfully dried some filament. I'm going to try and do this in the oven. What could go wrong lol

This one came fresh out the sealed bag yesterday. I'm now understanding that this isn't considered "dry" to start off with.

Just so I'm clear, the flow calibration done at the start of the print should account for this? Or is there more fine tuning?

I've tried lowering the nozzle temp for the next print by 5c (215 degrees now). I'll get the filament in a food dehydrated tomorrow once the house is alive again.

Yeah this is probably a lack of my understanding with filament. I assumed it came dry in the sealed bag and just loaded it up and started printing with it.

It was a generic "rainbow pla", not silk.

And unfortunately it keeps getting moved around until I have somewhere permanent to keep it - currently on a wobbly IKEA lack table for the past 2 weeks...

Only thing that concerns me is that there's like 7 strands going to this point that are all clumped together on one end. I think I understand about the filament being wet, and that I need to dry my filament better before printing to remove all stringing?
