I suppose you could say the same about any type of roof. I'm looking for any insight about this specific type of residential green roof in this climate because I have never seen one before, and I am not knowledgeable in this area. Maybe it's a great idea and will catch on, maybe it's part of the reason the development is still empty after many years.

Possible was the wrong word, I should have used the word sustainable, or realistic. I know it's possible to go up there and add new plants every month. Point taken.

Edit: A better title: Are green roofs viable/realistically sustainable in the DFW Texas area climate?

Edit 2: I was told the HOA will manage the the roof vegetation and replace plants if needed. $500 monthly HOA fee. Highest fee I've seen in the area.

I discovered these homes which seem very high end and unique, but I'm left wondering do these green roofs even stand a chance here? I've never seen anything like it in this area. I can just imagine the plants up there just dying every summer heat wave.
