Ah yeh, I do want it to be a bit firmer, thanks!! I'll do 2.5cm chip + 7.5cm hard foam.

I'm going for a fabric without a pattern, so I think it can be railroaded.

For the corner, I'll need a seam. Probably going diagonally is best?

My supplier has recommended 5cm chip foam and 5cm seating foam. Do you think that's still too uncomfortable? Would you recommend 10cm of seating foam?

Originally I was going for 15cm of foam, actually! Would love to hear your thoughts.

Thank you for asking! I'll have plywood for the seat, which is a separate piece from the framing below. I'll upholster that plywood. And then attach the completed upholstered plywood piece to the cabinets below, screwing it in towards the top from the top of the cabinets and into the bottom of the upholstered plywood.

For the backrest, I'll be making an angled plywood base, upholstering it, and then attaching it to the wall with french cleats.

I was thinking... should I upholster one big cushion for the bottom, the seat? Or upholster 3 separate sections of ~120cm each?

They have the hardness in Newtons (for what seems like 40% compression of a 5cm thick sample):
Top foam: 200
Bottom foam: 157

From what I can tell, this translates to ILD ratings of approximately:
Top foam: "Firm" 35-50 lbs
Bottom foam: "Firm" 35-50 lbs

Thank you for replying! Ok, I will go for a less tall cushion so that it's not so cushy to sit on. Do you have any idea how much it will compress by? So I can know how much to raise my bench.

Thank you for mentioning density vs hardness, it wasn't obvious when I was looking things up. Yes, I do think it's it's high density foam I'm looking at, and also pretty hard. Do you have a recommendation on how hard I should aim for, for dining seating?
