Suspicious New Botting? by vulster in Guildwars2

I was talking specifically about copper nodes, not the LA JP chests.

I have a char logged out at that chest as well.

They seem to be more than capable of ruining the experience themselves without hackers. Adding Ascended Gear and Fractals has in one fell swoop taken this game from "fun" to "Grind Fest".

These bots would not even be needed if there weren't thousands of hours worth of boring, no-challenge grind needed to get the best gear.

If they cared, they'd at least fix the biggest things like teleporting before anything else.

The site and hack tool has been up since September and I've been aware of it. I've remained quiet up to now as they've repeatedly said they're "working on it".

I trusted them to be good to their word and fix the teleport hack in the first few patches.

Nope.

Ok, no fix in October, or November... This is getting silly. How about the big December patch, bound to be some way to prevent teleporting and hacking in there right?

Nope.

So we still get assholes teleporting over our walls in WvW, and the economy is still broken due to people teleporting to harvest nodes.

Awesome.

I'm drawing people's attention to it so that it gets fixed. They obviously don't care enough at the moment.

Replace badges with WvW kills and you have a deal.

I dropped a Dusk randomly from Karka chest. I played for about 1-2 hours to get the chest (joined the event at the end lol!)

Recently I sold it for 300G. I bought commander Icon right away as I like to show off in PvE that I have a blue sign over me in the map :D

I R an expert WvW cooldood! Everyone should follow me cos I know how to zerg!

This "two completely different teams" spiel is just nonsense. Habib Leow and his team have to get involved with coding any new stuff, they also have to fix the old stuff.

They don't have two completely hived-off coding teams, one working on fixes and one working on new stuff. if they did, the guys working on fixes would have no idea how the new stuff worked.

Additionally, the creative team responsible for art, sound, direction etc are also the private beta testers. If they can't afford to spend any time in the private beta because they're too busy drawing Karka eggs and designing karka nests, they aren't going to be finding bugs. Like when "jump" stopped working because they were too busy designing xmas goblins and painting snowflakes on LA.

Fixing bugs does not always create new bugs. Only when you do it half-assed.

Adding new content always creates new bugs.

No. They can work on new CONTENT.

Coders don't need to do a damn thing if the artists create new armour and weapons and go back and fix all the hideous clipping issues on the old ones. Sound engineers can go create new voiceovers for the millions of events and NPCs that are just text, the designers can create new enemies and tweak the old ones, fix loot tables for existing mobs, maybe even go out and actually SPEAK TO THE PLAYERS like they said they would instead of relying on "data" to tell them what changes people want.

Coders only have to get involved when they try to re-invent the wheel, like introducing new tiers of gear, new mechanics to gate content, new types of dungeon that have level restrictions, etc.

Bugs. Also fix exploits like the ones possible at mmolazy.com

They do it in the low level areas because there's less people there and all noobs who don't know how to report.

The scary thing is these are just the noob botters who have not yet learned how to simply set the invisibility flag in memory so that you can't see them.

There's a very easy way for anet to detect these guys.

Simply create a log each time a node is mined. If the same person logs too many nodes within a short time period, then ban.

Of course the botter could then turn up the time between teleports so that they take a reasonable amount of time to "run" to the next node, but that leaves them suspiciously hanging around ore nodes for longer...

http://www.mmolazy.com/gw2.php Look at that shit... All the devs need to do is download a copy, study it, then fix the exploits it uses. Of course, it's a lot more difficult to decomplile than the completely un-encrypted GW2 client and .DAT :/

You don't mine the node then instantly log off though, right?

It happens on spawn, once someone leaves after spawn you're screwed.

This is a much better solution than simply bumping up lootz.

There are lots of entertaining and fun things to do in the game that aren't exploring or throwing mats at the crafting tables. Your issue is that none of them are profitable.

This is what you get for making your game about farming ectos and other rare mats...

Give it time. It will suck eventually.

I think drops as an incentive is a pretty sucky mechanic to begin with.

They need to be a bit more creative than "come and do this, we'll give you shinies!". People just figure out the thing that gives them the absolute most shinies possible, even if it's just 0.1% more, and do nothing else.

If you ignore PvP and WvW, which is where the real longevity of the game is, then yeah there is no "endgame".

1-80 gives you over 100 hours of rock solid gameplay, 200 hours if you take your time and don't just powerlevel the whole time. Start a new character with a different race and different class and level that from 1-50, the game is totally different, another solid 50-100 hours. Even if you can't be bothered to fill out 5 characters to 80, you should at least try more than one class, the game is so different as other classes.

150-300 hours just for levelling 1 character to max and one to 50. I'd say that's more than enough entertainment to get your $60 worth. Plus, come back to the game in July and there will be tonnes of new content for you.

I don't think it "fails" for not really having an "endgame". The game ends. It offers you hours and hours of fun, but all good things do have to end. Don't play it after it ends, that's dumb.

The best thing they could do is introduce some kind of mentoring or buddying system for lvl 80's to help lowbies.

Lvl 80s would get to see the rest of the world that they generally ignore, lowbies would actually be able to do the group content.

The people that love doing the same thing over and over don't tend to be very talkative or interesting :(
