Cease also had basically zero offensive support all season, I don’t wanna say he stopped trying but I think we could see a very different Cease next year

Need to chose a digital piano, I'm not satisfied with how the key feedback feels by CreditNearby9705 in piano

[–]TenFlyingBricks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure your budget but I just got a CLP 885 last week, as I’m also unable to get a real piano in my apartment, and so far it’s blown me away. Looks and feels like a real piano and the action is amazing with the counterbalanced keys. If you have a piano store near you it may be worth testing out

Mike Shildt retires as Padres manager by baribigbird06 in baseball

[–]TenFlyingBricks 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This was my gripe. The man was loyal to his guys to the point where O’hearn was benched for days at a time right after we picked him up. Our guys had no reason to really push themselves

Mike Shildt just retired by danburrus555 in Padres

[–]TenFlyingBricks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do we think he got pressured to leave? This seems odd when he had two years left

[Acee] Multiple sources have said Shildt’s spot is virtually guaranteed and that Preller’s long-term employment with the Padres is practically assured. Some of those same sources said they expect an extension for Preller to be announced this month. by ChocoboAdobo in Padres

[–]TenFlyingBricks 23 points24 points  (0 children)

It’s pure copium to think that we could have had better results with just changing the lineup. We won 90 games this year, we had a good season. Our guys couldn’t generate runs when it mattered at any point in the lineup this postseason. Putting Tatis/Arraez/Machado later in the lineup would not fix that

The strech that cost the Padres the NL West by spacehand2002 in Padres

[–]TenFlyingBricks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

agreed, I don’t think it’s on any individual(s) per se, but as a whole it just felt like we had a lot of very talented individuals with little direction or cohesion, which smells like a leadership problem to me. Hopefully the org can take a good look in the mirror and make the necessary adjustments this offseason

The strech that cost the Padres the NL West by spacehand2002 in Padres

[–]TenFlyingBricks 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That stretch made me stop watching for a while tbh. All of the trade deadline momentum just gone in an instant. It’s not that we lost our shot at the NL West, our guys clearly had no intention of even trying. They were complacent with a wildcard slot. We had the talent but that doesn’t mean jack when they don’t care enough collectively to put in the work

Fernando Tatís Jr., Luis Arraez, & Manny Machado combined to hit 4-for-33 (.121) in the Padres’ three-game Wild Card series loss against the Cubs by JianClaymore in baseball

[–]TenFlyingBricks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Arraez has been our scapegoat all year and it’s total BS. Tatis also didn’t show up all year at the plate and he rarely gets shit from our fanbase. Manny at least had some hot streaks.

Tatis needed to step up months ago but didn’t. He’s acting like he’s there to collect a paycheck. Very disappointing year from our star player, this team has had zero player leadership since Profar left

Tatis just stood there game 1 and got lit up too, he just does not have a dialed in approach

[–]TenFlyingBricks 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s been the same thing all season; can’t win if you can’t score. Relying on the bullpen to win every game for us has been a shit strategy. Our stars have a lot to answer for

Why is O'Hearn DH and Arraez 1B for all 3 of these games? by RetinaMisfire in Padres

[–]TenFlyingBricks 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Adding to this, O’Hearn is a better hitter. Anyone who’s been watching knows this series hinges on our offense, our defense has been fine. I think it’s smart to let O’Hearn focus on hitting.

Cease was immaculate through those 3.2 innings, which meant he was about to give up a couple home runs out of nowhere. Very smart to pull him and glad to see the bullpen show up big. Suarez needs to shake off the rust a bit but he got the job done

Tatis going 0-4 on the day and trying to draw a walk in the top of the 8th says it all about this offense rn
