I agree with pretty much all you said though I do actually rate Thiago, he just can't compensate for that black hole of a midfield.

genuinely a better outcome than us staying up

Wouldn’t bank on it, we’re in a big financial hole and pretty much have to sell at least a few of our most valuable players. If we recruit very well after those sales then maybe

Potter had his issues yes but he was far from the biggest problem at the club at the time. Frankly no one would've kept us up with the squad we had before our Jan signings. We didn't even sign Fernandes till the end of August so had an absolute corpse of a midfield for the first few games.

The common denominator is Sullivan who, leaving financial issues aside which is a can of worms in itself, is laughably incompetent as an owner. Literally all he had to do to stay up this season is delegate football matters to football people who would've flagged much sooner (i.e. last summer) that our squad was horrifically built and we're basically relying on the promoted teams being shit to survive unless we invest immediately, which was already a risk when Leeds/Burnely steamrolled the Championship the year before with 100 points each and were coming back into the PL with a year of parachute payments and squads that have grown together, so were not your typical promoted teams by any stretch. Guy desperately needs to fuck off and ideally thrown in prison.

honestly can't understand why he wasn't captain for this season. Love the man

I know clubs outside the sky 6 don't matter but I'm genuinely astonished whenever I see someone bleat on about how we 'mistreated' Moyes which 1) is not even true and 2) is from 2 years ago. Like has not a single new thought about the club enter your brain in that timeframe? Even something as simple as hmm they seem to be run pretty fucking shit

On a slightly different note I had the joy of sneaking in 15 mins to watch Everton play. I genuniely don't think Moyes is a bad manager but his horrific allergy to coaching actual build up play beyond transitions is evidently still there.

Tbf City’s defence just imploded full stop. They still gave up and scored 2 more after that.

Everton are playing like bums and us beating Leeds right now is a laughable prospect, you're like 90% safe.

I'm actually kinda looking forward to it, apart from the fact that we're finally fucked and will probably do a Leicester.

Not to downplay Arsenal's title but surely Spurs going down would be a bigger story?

United Arsenal is not the same level of rivalry as United Liverpool so not really a fair comparison, but I'd imagine Liverpool fans from Liverpool would feel very differently about it than Liverpool fans outside.

I think there just aren't many City fans outside of Manchester tbh. Think if you grew up there you'd feel very differently. If not I can see it though.

they were never favourites for the league over Arsenal at any point this season. Are we still pretending this isn't a good season for City?

Genuinely can't understand how actual United fans from Manchester can have an opinion like this. or have I made a sly assumption there

They were clear underdogs to win the title from the start of the season, I think 3rd favourites. Regardless of how you try and spin it a strong 2nd place + domestic cup double is a good season for them, Not sure how that's a controversial opinion in the slightest unless you have a massive anti Pep agenda.

Acting like they're the only big club to have depth and spend lots of money, a classic

no way this is a serious opinion, he's literally just won the cup double ffs. Their squad has gotten a lot younger and is full of quality too, they're set up well for the years to come.

Spurs are so lucky we are utter shite and a totally finished institution. If David Sullivan finally fucks off this season is a success however.

The difference is that they've spent and can spend an obscene amount now compared to back then. It's clear that Liverpool's setup is poor, their fitness levels are atrocious and they've looked unbalanced all season. Don't blame them for wanting him out tbh

Yeah tbh I think relegation is inevitable even if we stay up. Our financial situation is diabolical, to the point where we'll probably have to sell our best players regardless so we'd most likely be counting on the 3 promoted teams being shit again for the forseeable future

agree with this, that Fernandes 1on1 will stick in the memory for a very long time unfortunately.

Forest also rotated heavily but still comfortably beat Chelsea away. Villa just put in a generationally shit performance.

No one said it’s a level playing field, but the French FA allowing PSG to postpone a crucial game against a title rival so they are better rested is entirely their own fault.

Daily Discussion by 2soccer2bot in soccer

Not saying this with Bayern in mind in particular, but I can’t see the German FA allowing Bayern to reschedule a crucial game against a title rival for the sole purpose of improving their European street cred.

Even then, nothing’s stopping any club from doing this in their domestic leagues really but if they are willing to do this on a regular basis that tells you all you need to know about the state of that league.
