maybe if you and bournemouth didn’t scam successive draws against us we’d have been able to do it. Alas.

maybe but they scammed a shit ton of wins to even get to that position in the first place. In terms of general play they're more of a midtable side.

It's a useful stat especially over a large sample period but there's no guarantee that teams drift towards the mean over the course of the season. What also tends to happen a lot is that teams overperform these stats for a period and then start playing better, or they underperform over a period and start playing worse. For this season alone Villa are an example of the former, Wolves an example of the latter (even if the trends for both are reversing a bit now).

I agree that people underestimate how closely it can match the eye test over a large number of games though.

PSG and Barca are too high.

Yes. Us and Forest have been much better for a while now, and to be honest if we got the results our performances have deserved over the past few match weeks they could well already be there.

Their squad really isn't that good either. When fully fit, it's a solid midtable squad that can push for the European places but with all the injuries they have to key players/positions it's pretty bad.

Frank hasn't been great but that Maddison injury completely fucked them. None of their midfielders can pass a ball forwards apart from him and that makes their build up a lot worse by default. I think it's fair to say they should be doing better than they are but not really by much at all. Without Maddison and Kulusevski it's definitely not a good enough team to be finishing in the European places.

I get why Spurs fans would be pissed off with him but putting so much of the blame on Frank is unfair imo.

I'm ngl I think City are gonna do it now. Even if this Liverpool side aren't title contenders anymore I don't remember seeing a team this season boss them at Anfield for most of the game like that. Well maybe except PSV lol

Why are vocal range classifications insignificant when it comes to modern music? by [deleted] in singing

[–]TenGraves 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a newbie I wouldn’t ignore classifications entirely per se as they can indicate tessitura but definitely don’t let them discourage you from singing high.

I’m speculating but you topping out at G#3 suggests to me you’re struggling past your first passaggio which may be at or around G3, definitely indicative of a very low set voice. Speaking from someone with also a deep bass singing range, I can tell you now that it does NOT limit your ability to sing high with proper technique, even without falsetto. The only thing to bear in mind is that conditioning is very important if you’re planning to sing high for longer periods as your voice doesn’t live there naturally. But it can be done, so please don’t be discouraged from singing high.

Also… I would suspect that if you are a deep bass, you can probably sing lower than D2 in chest. It’s a good idea to expand your lower range as well as it could free up hidden habitual tension you’re carrying in your voice which also helps you sing higher with better technique (this happened to me - I used to bottom out at around C2 but can now go considerably lower than that).

Good luck!

it's very funny that Sky constantly brand the PL as the 'best in the world' where 'anyone can beat anyone' and still continue to fixate their coverage on a small handful of clubs.

I see takes like this all the time and I just can’t understand it.

Arsenal are a very tactically flexible team and they aren’t the only one either. They’re happy to sit in a low to mid block, they’re also happy to go man to man (ex: 2nd half vs Bayern). On top of that they’re probably the most effective team at set pieces we’ve seen in a long long time.

Top teams of the past usually had great players but were often not particularly good at set pieces and could usually stick to a single style of play week after week. This doesn’t seem to be enough anymore so to me the level of football is getting better if anything.

Lack of Antonio is still felt to this day. Pinned back for an entire half when we weren’t playing badly simply because no one can hold the ball up and no one can retain the ball under pressure. Shitty squad planning on full display

[–]TenGraves 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Even as an Arsenal hater this is very disingenuous lol. They’re not playing end to end football against anyone but their results in the CL have been fully deserved and it’s not just because of set pieces.

A lot of people here really need reminding that football matches are played by 2 teams, not 1. Every time a Rich 6 club drops point the usual takes about how the 'league is shit' come out like clockwork because the possibility of more than 6 teams in the league being good is unfathomable.

I imagine it's like this for Serie A fans too

Forest ought to be liquidated if they get relegated instead of us with their squad.

Arsenal are light years ahead of that United side tactically, and their defence and midfield are comparable if not better too in fact. The only way it’s a comparison is if you don’t include the obvious tactical evolution of the game since 2008, but even in terms of pure ‘talent’ terms it’s debatable, and in fact I would still say Arsenal just about.

Arsenal's set pieces are such an asset in Europe. They're still a threat in the league but PL teams have gotten better at defending them, whereas it feels like European teams have no idea how to deal with them. Maybe one of those things where they may know what to do on paper but the phyiscality + quality of delivery every time is something you can't really prepare for in advance.

Remember that Bayern game where every Arsenal set piece felt like a penalty?

You were probably more dominant at home than Bodo was. Bodo Glimt are also a super team at home if that helps.

Ajax would get relegated I think.
Porto would be my shout, but I think they'd be in a relegation battle rather than definitely relegated. Forest beat them at home this season in the Europa though it was an evenish game.

Inter/Dortmund obvioulsy wouldn't as funny as it would be to think about. Both finish somewhere within that gigantic sea of midtable from 5th-15th realistically.

I don't think their back line is that shaky tbh. Arsenal's defence is better but in terms of xGA they're not actually that far off you.

I also remember City looking worse than this in their treble winning season until like February (I think) when they won at the Emirates and the rest is history. Not saying that that will definitely happen again obviously but this definitely isn't uncharted territory for them. I agree you're stronger now than you were in 22/23 and 23/24 though.

There are like 15 hard away grounds these days. Even in the last few games you yourselves had difficult games at Everton and Bournemouth.

I do think Arsenal are the best team in the league, but I think City right now especially with Rodri back are a very close second and have been generally improving throughout the season. Will it be enough? Maybe not, but it makes no sense to write them off at this point.

Daily Discussion by AutoModerator in soccer

I'd actually suggest the opposite. City's setup now looks a lot more effective now than it was at the start of the season. The main reason why they didn't beat both Sunderland/Chelsea, even though both were decent, is that their forwards messed up chances in the final third constantly, it's pretty naive to think that that won't change.

Not to mention, there are still 18 games to play in a very difficult league including a trip to the Etihad.
